Free Music Notes for Scars and Souvenirs

Free Music Review: Good, but I liked the first two better.
Hit: 3 Stars

A little less distinct than the first two, which isn't good news for me, because I loved the first two albums, especially Gasoline. I liked the difference between the songs on those albums, and feel like many of these songs are just a little too similar. I do like So Happy and it describes my world, as does Hate My Life. Perhaps I'm in too bad a place to listen to songs that are slower. In any event, they remain one of my favorite bands and even if they do resemble Nickelback, why would I care? Loved their first two albums too. Kudos to keep on keepin on, Theory!

Free Music Review: Duane's Fozzy recomendation is on the money
Hit: 2 Stars

Folks, check out Duane's review...that sums it up. You must look into the Fozzy 'All That Remains Reloaded' CD/DVD....incredible CD........trust me, if the Fozzy CD was getting promoted on the WWE television shows, everybody would know about this being out there and it would be at the top of the charts..........

Free Music Review: So let's jump on the Nickelback reference
Hit: 4 Stars

Though I didn't like this album quite as much as the first two, it is still a good album. Yes, there are similarities in sound and vocals between Nickelback and TOAD, but one of the greatest distinctions, in my opinion, is whereas Nickelback tends to only have 2, maybe 3 good songs per CD with the rest just filler, virtually every song on a TOAD CD is decent, and there is never a bad song. Personally, I like TOAD better. They rise above Nickelback in just about every aspect except fame. I hope they eventually earn the fame they deserve.

Free Music Review: Who Says You Have To Wait For A New Nickelback Album? Me!!!!!!!!
Hit: 2 Stars

Because that's essentially what you're getting here.....on a much smaller scale. Theory doesn't quite have that ummphhh to put them in the same league as Nickelback. However, they do sound alot like Nickelback, but not in a good way. Unfortnately pretty much all the songs here are average, tired, heard it before stuff, which is what will happen to Nickelback with their stuff if they don't change things up. It all begins to sound the same after a while.

By The Way and Meant To Be are pretty decent songs, but there are no real standout hits on this album. Nothing really catchy here that makes you want to rewind back to that good part of the song or replay the entire song. Sorry but I don't see where all the 5 star reviews are coming from. It's not that great people! There's nothing original here! A little originality here would have been nice instead of sounding, time after time, like the band that found you, produces your albums, and promotes you, Nickelback(or least part of Nickelback....Chad Kroeger).

I listened to this cd several times through on a 5 hour road trip and I can't remember how many times during listening I thought I was listening to Nickelback.....a generic version of Nickelback. Unless you're really desperate for a new rock album pass this up and wait for a new Nickelback album. Better yet, wait for 10 Years and 3 Doors Down's new albums coming out in May, as well as a new Filter album.

I had previously listened to Theory's other 2 albums and was not impressed with those either. I thought I would give this one a chance due to some hype that was surrounding it and 3rd times a charm and all that stuff. Big mistake! Nothing here worth making you purchase the album even for the $7 or $8 bucks you can buy it for new. Pass on this one or you'll be like me wishing you hadn't wasted your money or your time!!!!!!!!

Free Music Review: Nothing Really New...Just Good Rock & Roll
Hit: 4 Stars

Theory of a Deadman is back with their third album. I see that the Nickelback comparisons are flying in full force once again. In my opinion, the "influence" has worn off on this album. Chad Kroeger did not contribute any songwriting on this album. If fact, it appears several songs were written with the help of Tyler Connely's wife, Christine, which I found interesting.

Anyway, as my title suggests, the content has not waiverd much on this album. One song, you have them singing about ending the relationship. The next song, you have them singing about how good it is. A person would get confused if they didn't know any better. Nevertheless, it's another solid album that is up to par musically with the first two. If straight-up rock is what you look for, this effort should suit you fine. My personal favorites are "By The Way", "Not Meant To Be", and "Wait For Me".
