Free Music Review: Nothing Really New...Just Good Rock & Roll
Hit: 4 Stars

Theory of a Deadman is back with their third album. I see that the Nickelback comparisons are flying in full force once again. In my opinion, the "influence" has worn off on this album. Chad Kroeger did not contribute any songwriting on this album. If fact, it appears several songs were written with the help of Tyler Connely's wife, Christine, which I found interesting.

Anyway, as my title suggests, the content has not waiverd much on this album. One song, you have them singing about ending the relationship. The next song, you have them singing about how good it is. A person would get confused if they didn't know any better. Nevertheless, it's another solid album that is up to par musically with the first two. If straight-up rock is what you look for, this effort should suit you fine. My personal favorites are "By The Way", "Not Meant To Be", and "Wait For Me".

Free Music Review: Never heard of them till today
Hit: 4 Stars

They clearly sound like Nickleback and this is the first time I ever heard them. They sound related throw in a little puddle of mud and seether.I think of them the same as Nickleback they can make some good stuff but the girly songs like Not Meant To Be if they both didnt make crap like this I'd like them both much more.I understand they both make music for females but that doesn't make it good.I know both bands can make more meaner stuff instead of these cheesy love songs that make me want to sleep.

By the Way/Crutch has girly lyrics but the songs doesn't sound as girly. It's still not mean enough sounding for me.Bad girlfriend is more the attitude I'm looking for but the song itself is ok.

I'm not fully bashing them I'm giving them 4 stars for their good songs on here.Got it made is cool.If you like Nickleback or Puddle of Mud I would buy this.

Free Music Review: Buy this CD
Hit: 4 Stars

Radio stations play "So Happy" too much, and that's too bad because there are 12 other really good tracks on the CD. TOAD definitely did themselves proud on their 3rd release.

This CD is titled "Scars and Souvenirs." There must've been a lot of scars to write eight tracks about them. "So Happy", "By the Way", "Not Meant to Be", "Crutch", "Bad Girlfriend" (It sounds like a good scar), "Hate My Life", "Little Smirk", "Sacrifice". Hey, if a woman stomps your heart, write a song about it and make millions of $$$.

I never buy a CD for only one song. I have to like at least half the songs. Scars and Souvenirs has 13 listenable songs. Even if you buy "Scars and Souvenirs" for the song "So Happy", you won't "be sad" about the other 12 songs. (I couldn't resist).

Enjoy!!!

Free Music Review: It was a decent soundtrack
Hit: 4 Stars

Theory of a Deadman is a pretty reputable artist, and they supposedly sound like Nickelback, but I guess they can sometimes. Anyway, they have a good guitar and drummer, and the lyrics are the good reason people are interested in this artist. Some of the best songs are the ones that express the most story, and the singles always on the radio, like "Bad Girlfriend", "So Happy", and "Hate my Life". Although, there are still good songs there. However, the whole album is not worthwhile, but it is worth a listen, and when I say that, it's that some people will wanna by it and other peoples wont, because the whole album is not worthy, and that's why I'm giving it four stars. The voice has changed, but overall, their lyrics are still good in the old and new.

Free Music Review: I Think Thou Doest Protest Too 4 Stars

Upon first listen I find the latest offering from our Canadian rockers to be rather enjoyable. No, the tunes don't grab me as those from "Gasoline" did, but I see the band taking a different approach on this release. Here we find a greater number of ballads if you will, but we can also find a good balance in the heavier tracks. I think we find Tyler and the band still maturing and yet defining who TOAD really are. As usual we find the similarities and comparisons to Alice In Chains and Nickelback, but I enjoy those bands as well. I recall that many were initially critical with the release of "Gasoline", and may in this instance be rushing to judgement as well. I recommend this album as a decent rendering.
