Free Music Notes for Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo]Free Music Review: Kid's music you can deal with Hit: 5 Stars
I'd always been aware of TMBG and was kinda surprised to see that they were doing children's music. My daughter just turned two and despite our best efforts she is quite fond of the Doodlebops and stuff. One of my wife's friends sent this disc for her third birthday and it is a homerun hit. We listen to it every night before bed, a mini-dance party before she hits the sack. The songs are quirky, fun, and I suppose mildly educational. Best of all I don't feel like I need a shower like after dancing and singing to the Doodlebops, my musical integrity is intact! It looks like Santa will be stuffing Abbey's stocking with some more TMBG. If your looking for more palatable children's music tryNot for Kids Only which is full of folksy songs that my daughter loves as well. Maybe Ween should get on the children's music bus, that would be great.
Free Music Review: great fun for all ages Hit: 5 Stars
I liked They Might Be Giants from before I was a parent, and bought their
"no" CD for my kids, and lo and behold, the kids liked it, and it didn't drive me insane. So I bought this cd to help my kids with alphabet, and we have yet to listen to the Cd portion, cuz the kids want to watch the DVD portion. My 3, 5 and 7 year olds all get a kick out the funny songs, and love watching the silly videos. The production values remind me of early Wiggles: cardboard, spray painted sets, jerky video. But just like early Wiggles, my kids could care less how much was spent on the fx. They just like the silliness. Watching the letters helps them with letter recognition, too. My 3 year old can now recognize all the letters! I would recommend this over the slicker videos produced by Disney, etc, because it is designed by an "independent" group, and because the music isn't so dumbed down that it will make you insane.
Free Music Review: We love it !!! Hit: 5 Stars
We bought this DVD when our triplets (boy, boy, girl) were about 2 yrs old. It was an instant hit! The first day they watched it at least 3 times in a row. The following 2-3 days were just the same. Within a week, they went from knowing very few of their alphabet to recognizing all of the letters, even out of order. It was absolutely amazing!
This combination of audio/visual learning is a much better way to learn the letters than memorizing the usual ABC song. How many people can say the alphabet backward? I could not, until I heard TMBG's ZYX song. Imagine that, even a 40-something can learn from this music!
Our triplets are now over 3 yrs old and still ask to watch it. I have to admit, I like it as much as they do. I am not a TMBG fan, but I LOVE this DVD/CD. It is the best childrens music we own - Thank you John & John!
Free Music Review: A must for any toddler's music collection Hit: 5 Stars
As many people have mentioned, TMBG do a fantastic job with a great variety of songs on this album. What is an even bigger treat is the DVD that comes along with it. My son is 20 months old and this is the first, and for the most part only, DVD he will watch. The videos for each song are great as are the interludes between songs. My son loves when the robot says his ABC's "really fast!" and he dances around during the song "Clap Your Hands" every time he hears it.
If you enjoy TMBG you will enjoy this CD and DVD even after hearing it and/or watching it every day for a few weeks... The lyrics are kid friendly and educational in that Schoolhouse rock sort of way while the music is everything you would expect from TMBG. Be sure to add this to your chid's music collection (or even your own!)
Free Music Review: Great CD, lots of fun, adult friendly kids music. Hit: 5 Stars
It goes without saying that a little Barney can become nails across a chaulk board. I gave this CD 5 stars because our 20 month old son loves it and my spouse and I can listen to it with him and have fun with it. The tunes are catchy. Something you can goof around with and sing along with. The alphabet is a big deal right now with our son (he loves ABC books too) and this makes learning lots of fun. We loved this one so much we eventually bought Here Come the 123s.
The DVD that comes with it is interesting to say the least. A couple of the songs on the CD were obivously made for the video portion as the song makes sense once you see the video. Good use of puppets and animation.
