Free Music Notes for Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo]Free Music Review: God Bless TMBG Hit: 5 Stars
They Might Be Giants rocked my world in - was it '89? - with Ana Ng and others, opening my eyes to super fun and clever alternative music in my teen years. Now as a 30-something mother of two, I feel pathetically out of touch with any new or cool music, it's just hard to keep up while juggling life now. I am THRILLED that my old love, TMBG, has not failed me in my predicament, but has provided the perfect solution - their awesome sound and clever lyric-writing with kid-level content so my daughters and I can all enjoy it together. And I'm a big fan of the alphabet, so this is our perfect match! WE LOVE THIS CD!!!
Free Music Review: Catchy tunes, fun way to learn! Hit: 5 Stars
I discovered TMBG when I was in high school and still enjoy their music. I was excited after I had my kids to learn that they were making children's music. This CD and DVD is so much fun! My 4-year-old son has asked for 5 days straight to watch the DVD! I even find myself singing along! The videos are fun to watch...my favorite is ZYX, and my son's favorite is LMNO. I think this is not a CD/DVD to get if your child doesn't yet know the alphabet, as I think the concepts are a little bit beyond the basics.
If you like fun, quirky music, this is definitely a fun CD/DVD to add to your collection!
Free Music Review: Screw Baby Einstein! Hit: 5 Stars
I am still relatively sane because of this DVD. It is the only thing my son will watch. He has loved it since the first time we put it on for him. We have been watching it almost every day for 6 months and I still dont hate it...I love it! My husband and I know all the songs and he has even been known to sneak one or two in on a compilation he makes for a friend. I can now impress people with my ability to recite the alphabet backwards and name a different country for every letter in a matter of seconds. So screw Baby Einstein! Thank God for TMBG! I cant wait for the new 123s coming out in 2008!
Free Music Review: The Strangest and Best Gift Our Sons Got Hit: 5 Stars
I always liked TMBGs, and my college band opened for them once a LONG time ago, but I never thought of them as making music that would appeal to children. A college friend gave us this DVD when our oldest was born, and after watching it once my wife and I said to each other "no child would ever like THAT". We could not have been more wrong. Our kids know the words to every song, and demand to play it over and over again on long car rides. It's a quirky, fabulous, rockin' little disc. If you want your kids to grow up liking music more complex than Raffi and Barney, get them this disc.
Free Music Review: Great for kids and adults Hit: 5 Stars
We love these songs and videos just as much as our kids do. Everyone can sing all the countries of "Alphabet of Nations" (as well as create lots of dances to it.) The other songs follow a rough alphabet theme. Some songs are about individual letters, while others cover the shapes of letters, or even the alphabet backwards. Most of the songs stand well alone. However, a few of them are primarily "video" songs that are best appreciated on video. (Though after watching them many times, they can be more appreciated.)
