Free Music Notes for Dedication the Very Best ofFree Music Review: An excellent Thin Lizzy primer. Hit: 5 Stars
Dedication is a great compilation for a band that can't be confined to just one CD. I'm not familiar with all their albums, but I know a bunch well, and this CD has no weak songs. First of all, its diverse. Part of what made Thin Lizzy so great was their ability to evolve from album to album and this CD shows it. So it isn't metal or hard rock all the time. A lot of blues, R&B and Irish music is thrown in there in generous doses. Originally they toiled away in semi-obscurity here in the USA during the 70s, but this CD will show you how well they've aged. I'm not a huge fan of Irish music either, and the lyrics are spotty, but Thin Lizzy's musical abilities cannot be denied.
And the songs do sound great remastered. You will be missing a lot of good stuff, but for the price, a CD maxed out with hits is a fine bargain.
Free Music Review: awsum unheard music Hit: 5 Stars
went into a vintage record shop and in the background heard some awsum music, but did not recognize the band.Asked one of the clerks Hey!!!!! who is that??? and do you sell that album,cd etc.???He said Damn man thats "Thin Lizzie" have you been living in a cave???. I questioned further what's the name of the album he mumbled someting to the effect "It's out of print Man" and no I won't be selling this copy. So began the search and ultimate discovery of some kick-azzzzz rock and roll from the same neighborhood as "Van Morrison"" You know Ireland man. unfortunatly for the rock world the lead singer like so many others with so much talent is no longer with us he Od'd in 1986. So If you have an interest in some music that might have fell below your radar screen "Thin Lizzie" is it Baby
Free Music Review: the greatest rock band to come out of Ireland Hit: 5 Stars
to me, Thin Lizzy is probably one of the most under-rated rock bands ever. Lynott's lyrics embody the true spirit of rock & roll better than any other singer out there. and the twin guitar attack is one that has influenced every band from Iron Maiden to Judas Priest. they have left us an incredible legacy of music that has lasted from the early 70's to the early 80's. although some of their albums may be better than others, they never made a bad one. this is a fine place to start for Lizzy beginners. although the one complaint that most fans have is that there are no tracks from their later albums which is a shame. however, it does contain tracks from their greatest album ever - Jailbreak. if you are a fan of solid, kick-ass rock & roll, you need to own this.
Free Music Review: If you can only get one Thin Lizzy cd, pick up this one Hit: 5 Stars
IMO, the greatest band to ever grace a stage was Thin Lizzy. I love alot of music, Zeppelin, Free, Deep Purple on and on, but Thin Lizzy does it for me. Tops. None higher than Phil Lynott. This cd has alot, Jailbreak, The Boys are back in Town, Chinatown, Bad Reputation, Still In Love with You, and 13 others. I personally like all of their albums, Johnny the Fox and Black Rose being the best, but if you are new to Lizzy try this. After you are mesmerized...and you will be, just go ahead and seek out (the 4 cd box) Vagabonds Kings Warriors Angels plus get Live and Dangerous. You will not regret it oneiotta.
Free Music Review: I'm definately going to buy more Thin Lizzy albums... Hit: 5 Stars
Before I got this disc recently, I'd never owned a Thin Lizzy album. I wanted a good overview, and this is pretty good...I understand it doesn't feature songs from every album, but this disc is 76 minutes long, and not one song is bad. Metallica's late bassist Cliff Burton loved Thin Lizzy, and that's what made me want to check these guys out, and I couldn't be happier. This is rock at it's best! I'm going to start collecting every Thin Lizzy album, and I suggest you do the same if you haven't already.
