A fell bands has the same power and energy like Thin Lizzy. This albun is a great exemple. If you like rock'n'roll, you can't miss it. Enjoy the great Phil Lynott and his boys!

... If you are looking for something that showcases their mainstream radio hits, but if you are a fan or you already have a compilation then I'd suggest passing this one up.

Don't get me wrong, all of the songs are classic Thin Lizzy, but seriously, did we really need another compilation with songs like "The boys are back in town" or "Whiskey in the Jar"?

I mean, don't you already have these on another compilation? If the answer to that question is no, then chances are you are more of a casual fan, or you don't have any Thin Lizzy. If that is the case, then get this compilation. It's a safe bet.

You're better off with this compilation than say, The Definitive Collection, and for the price it beats Greatest Hits hands down, although that compilation does have a few extra tracks that just rock.

Although this compilation is good, and I'm really not knocking it, I don't think it does justice to a band as capable and as multi-dimensional as Thin Lizzy. The vast majority of these tracks are already available on other compilations, so it's a shame that this one wasn't a little more selective.

To be fair, this compilation does a good job of showing us that Thin Lizzy were more than capable of producing hits, but it doesn't do that good a job of showing how dynamic this band really was.

Free Music Review: Electric Folk-Hard Rock
Hit: 3 Stars

Thin Lizzy was one of the most popular rock bands of the late 70's. Although they have a reputation to be heavy metal, they most certainly are not. They are folk rock, with some hard rock influences. And although many of the songs on here are great, some of them are pathetic. Starting with The Rocker and ending with Fighting My Way Back, all those songs are hard to be called rock, let alone metal. But unlike most compilations, the second half is MUCH better, including Boys Are Back In Town and Dedication, my personal favorite. But a word of warning,: these guys aren't has metal as they are made out to be.

Free Music Review: All the Thin Lizzy you'll ever need

I'm not sure why all the talk about Deep Purple vs. Thin Lizzy; and who is more "contemporary." I'm also the proud owner of "The Very Best Of" from both bands and each is enjoyable. But I'd have to side with the Purple camp on this one. I don't think "contemporary" is actually much of a compliment, especially these days.

In addition, with Deep Purple (and their long history), you'll need a lot more than just a "Very Best Of" collection. I didn't quite find that the case with Thin Lizzy. Still, it all comes down to a matter of taste.

Rock on!
