Free Music Review: The Deepest most lyrical masterpiece of modern rock
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is much different than their previous one. If the reason you like Third Eye Blind (3EB) is because of their popular songs , like jumper, semi-charmed life or how's it gonna be then you might be disappointed. There are only a couple of songs on this cd that have that kind of pop appeal. If you liked the last half of their debut album then this is the cd for you. I actually like them both, in different ways. Here is a track rundown.

1. Anything--A fast loud song that gets the emotion pumping. A good song to start the cd off. 4/5 2. Wounded--A deep slow song about the dangers of abuse. One of the best on the cd. 5/5 3. 10 Days late--a loud rocking song that is pretty good 3/5 4. Never Let you go--definately the best on the cd. A song about trusting each other and how we fail that trust. 5/5 5. Deep inside of you--A deep power ballad with a great message. 4.5/5 6. 1000 Julys--A rocking pop song with a great beat. 4/5 7. An Ode To Maybe--A cool song that has a fun sound. 4.5 8. The Red Summer Sun--A deep melodic song with cool harmonies 3.5/5 9. Camoflage--Another slow deep melodic song. 3.5/5 10. Farther--A great song about relationships drifting apart. 4/5 11. Slow Motion--It would have been a good song if Elektara hadn't decided to edit it. It is really a good song that may or may not be too explicit for you 1/5. (If you really want to hear it try downloading it on Napster) 12. Darkness--The second best on the cd, by a slim margin. A deep dark song that I refer to as my depression song. It is so deep and powerful 5/5 13. Darwin--A cool song about evolution and the scientist Darwin who basically is the father of evolution. There is also a bonus track which is just another clip of red summer sun.

Oveall a great cd with minor flaws.

Free Music Review: Third Eye Blind lives up to the expectations!
Hit: 5 Stars

After falling in love with Third Eye Blind and their self-titled debut album, I wanted more. The first album is one of the best written and musically formed albums ever, it was excellent. There wasn't one song that didn't lose the listener. Well, after the 4x Platinum success of their debut album, Third Eye Blind was expected to come out with another great album and new hit songs like "Semi-Charmed Life" and "How's It Going To be." "Blue" did live up to the expectations. I got the LP the first day it came out, and the first 7 tracks blew me away. Starting with the explosive "Anything" to the rather radio friendly "Never Let You Go" and then to the guitar-crazy "1000 Julys." Other great songs that resemble the tones of "Semi-Charmed Life" are "Wounded," "An Ode To Maybe," and "10 Days Late," which is my favorite track on the album. Stephen Jenkins' gripping voice and emotional lyrics make songs on the album that aren't that great to very good. Some songs on this album may not catch the listener the first time around because of the music, but you have to listen to these songs again and again to realize how good they really are. These tracks include "Farther," "The Red Summer Sun," "Camouflage," "Darwin," and the instrumental yet satisfying "Slow Motion." If you loved Third Eye Blind's debut album and you are still looking for more in this excellent San Farancisco based band, I encourage you to pick up "Blue." This album got past the sophomore jinx and lived up to the expectations that Third Eye Blind is one of the great pop-rock bands of the decade.

Free Music Review: Blue demonstrates 3EB's evolution into a great band
Hit: 5 Stars

When I purchased Blue, I was listening for songs that would become singles that would monopolize the airways. I was extremely HAPPY to find out that there were none (except "Never Let You Go", of course.) The reason I say that is because I've read, seen and heard interviews with Stephen Jenkins, the band's lead singer. Commerciality is something the band does not want to compromise with. Anyway, what good band would want to be a part of the pop music scene that is plagued with artists such as Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and Puff Daddy? What's missing in Rock and Roll today is the raw, hardcore sound of guitars, spontaneity and poetry. Blue delivers all of those. Along with Jenkins' dramatic/poetic lyrics comes the band's rhythmic sounds. It's just too easy to create a song such as "Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears (all you have to do is program a computer to do so and it will.) Creating something like "Anything" or "Darwin" or "Wounded" by 3EB takes real talent and creativity. 3EB is definitely evolving into a great band. For those who wanted the pop sound of the debut 3EB album, don't look for it here, because you're not going to find it. 3EB has moved on to better sounds and away from the need to produced mere "hits for Top 40 radio." They're becoming a band that puts drama and poetry into their music. They've become a band that sings and plays about life. This album is for TRUE 3EB fans, not those that buy the CD just for the so-called hits they hear on the radio. If you buy this CD, don't forget to wait for the hidden track that plays nearly 15 minutes after "Darwin."

Free Music Review: Better each time
Hit: 5 Stars

I am an avid 3EB fan and I just love their first album. So of course like any normal person I looked into their second and with the help of clips and this site I decided to go get it...

Well all I have to say is BUY IT. I don't know why people were dissapointed (those who were). I think they only listened to the CD a few times. Because the first time I put it in, I was kind of like... umm is this 3EB? But then by the 10th or so time, it was just getting better by leaps and bounds... The catchy synth lays, the hot hooks, the awesome emotion packed lyrics and the 3EB classic tempo changes (remember Narcolepsy anyone?) really keep this album rolling. ALL the way. The short but powerful Anything probably was the longest to get used to... But it is a great thing in its own rite and I recommend that if you listen to it do it all the way because its length and ending somehow change the whole sound it has. The comes Wounded. My gosh. If heaven has a soundtrack I hope thats on it. My fav of the whole CD along with 10 Days Late, another amazing track with awesome lyrical motives and sound. Never Let You Go, cliche as it is, is great too. So are the rest all the way. Then you hit 10, Farther, and it gets even better. The instrumental is nice, and even the closers dont dissapoint (but as we know that was never 3EB's problem).

Basically, if you really like 3EB go buy this. Dont listen to those few who "were dissapointed". I would have been one if I hadnt given it a real try and I love it. I'll be combining all three of their CDs soon to make the best sound ever.

Final line, buy it. listen. a lot. and you wont be dissapointed. i promise.

Free Music Review: Stunning, HIGHLY UNDERRATED
Hit: 5 Stars

The first Third-Eye Blind album is nothing short of spectacular. I liked it instantly, and liked every single song. "Blue" needed many listens to become a favorite but one day it just clicked. The first five tracks everyone has heard about, "Anything", "Wounded", "10 Days Late", "Never Let You Go", and "Deep Inside Of You" are all great tracks, but the album's mood changes dramatically starting on track 6. "1000 Julys" is a transition song, loud guitars, very nice Jenkins vocals. "An Ode To Maybe" starts slow, and then erupts, gotta hear it to believe it. "The Red Summer Sun" tempo changes back and forth, the entire band's talents are on display here. "Camouflage" sounds like something that could have been popular in the 80's, but the sound is still fresh, "OKAY! OKAY!" (you'll know when you hear it!), fabulous song regardless. "Farther" is popsy, bluesey, definitely shoulda been a single, one of the faster tracks. "Darkness" is slow and atmospheric, very cool tune. "Darwin" is one of my favorites on the album, best Jenkins vocals on the entire album. "Slow Motion" is an instrumental, it's an edited song because the first one was too violent, download it on some mp3 program if you get a chance. Overall, one of my favorites in my collection, I recently ordered the new album "Out of the Vein" and can't wait to hear it. "Blue" is an exploration of music, and its boundaries, a lot of different styles and tempos are reached and comes together as a solid album beginning to the very end. Highly recommended.
