Free Music Review: Best CD ever made.
Hit: 5 Stars

After I heard the track "Semi-Charmed Life" I was hooked, so I went out and bought the album. That was 8 years ago, and I still love it. Although their other two albums were exellent this is definitely their best. I think they are the best rock band of our time, and I'm glad that they are not as popular as they should be, because I dont have to worry about any of their songs getting overplayed like Linkin Park, Blink182, etc.

1. Losing a Whole Year- A good Opener...catchy tune 8.5/10

2. Narcolepsy- Didn't like it much at first, but like many of their songs...it grew on me. 8.5/10

3. Semi-Charmed Life- My favorite song of all-time 10/10

4. Jumper- Good song, but I think their were many others that could have been released instead of this one. 7.5/10

5. Graduate- Very Catchy, Lyrically not the best, because it kinda repeats the same thing over and over, but I still love it 8.0/10

6. How's It Gonna Be- Amazing song, 2nd best on the CD. I have heard it probably 1000 times and I will never get tired of it. 10/10

7. Thanks a Lot- I used to skip it, but it grew on me, still not the best though. 7/10

8. Burning Man- The thing I love about 3eb is how much their songs can change from beginning to end. If you are patient with all their songs you will see how good some of them can get. This is an example, starts out kinda slow and boring, but has an explosive ending. 8/10

9. Good For You- Kinda has a different sound to it that I can't explain, but I love the lyrics, and basically the whole vibe it sends out 8.5/10

10. London- Worst song on the album...hasn't really grown on me yet. 6/10

11. I want you- Lead Singer Jenkins' tone is very moving and blends well with the music. 7.5/10

12. The Background- One of my favorites, Jenkins' sings with such passion you can tell he really means what he is singing about, and it just sucks you in. 9/10

13. Motorcycle Drive-By- Starts off weak and unpromising, but gets better and better. 8.0/10

14. God Of Wine- Their best unreleased song ever. This song is so deep, I recommend it to anyone no matter what kind of music you like. 10/10

Free Music Review: The standard for 90s alt rock IMO
Hit: 5 Stars

In the genre of rock of the late 90s, this album has got to be one of the most perfectly balanced, most creative and at the same time one of the best overall albums of rock/alt rock. For those who didn't buy this album years ago, its more than ever worth it to pick it up. I picked this album up in 1997, and its been something i go back to quite often, despite owning two newer 3EB albums.

Now i would never say Third Eye Blind is without their flaws. Sometimes lyrically, especially in the earlier years of 3EB, it feels like something is missing. The music has always been top notch, even though i have my favorite songs from each album, they, like this debut album, are all completely playable from beginning to end, with no filler apparent.

I was going to do a track by track breakdown, but i realized that with this album, and its completeness, i really cant. Id give every song a nearly perfect rating, and the album as a whole props for the balance throughout, each song compliments each other. Jenkins doesn't need the best voice nor the widest range, he uses what he has and uses it well, its something that came right out of the best of the 90s, with alt rock establishing a huge following by 1997. Likewise, Salazar has got to be one of my favorite bassists, and he shows why so much more on this album compared to Blue and Out of the Vein, while also writing one of the most known songs on the album " Jumper ". Kevin, as a lead guitarist, has far more talent than he shows. He relies on his unique technique, creating a cross between perfect melodies and solos that most cant even pick up are solos.

Overall, if you enjoyed the late 90s, you probably already own this album. If you own any other 3EB album, and not this, buy this, and you'll have more appreciation for them. If you own nothing from 3EB, and can appreciate good music, creative melodies, and can live with the " 90 - ness of it ", i highly recommend this album first before any of the others. however, if you have turned on the radio in the last 10 years, i can imagine you've heard 3EB before.... :-)

"Doot doot doot, doot doot doot doot"

That's how history will likely remember 90's alt-rock heroes Third Eye Blind. On their 1997 self-titled debut, the band proved to be a force to be reckoned with, as they dominated the radio-waves (you know, back when a band could actually do that) with songs that seemed sweet on the outside, but hid a bit of complexity behind their clever wordplay. An album that perhaps could never be made again (thus why the band has never enjoyed such success since), this is one that not only is good to the last drop, but which gets better with age and with each subsequent listen.

Having spent the better part of the 90's struggling to stay afloat in the San Francisco music scene, singer/song-writer/guitarist Stephan Jenkins vents all of that pent-up frustration and creativity into the eclectic fourteen tracks that make up Third Eye Blind's debut. With co-guitarust/songwriter Kevin Cadogan (who would be unceremoniously ousted from the band a few years later), bassist Arion Salazar and drummer Brad Hargreaves in his pocket, Jenkins unleashes hit after hit, flexing insanely catchy pop-rock muscle on the likes of "Semi-Charmed Life" (the band's most famous hit) and "Graduate" (an arena-size rocker) while baring his soul on moodier cuts like the one-two punch of "Motorcycle Drive By" and "God of Wine" which closes out the album.

Sure, there's plenty of hit singles to choose from, but scratch beneath the surface, and you'll find more than enough substance on the album's deeper cuts to see that they were more than just a flash in the pan. Having seen the band (what's left of it, anyway) performing live recently, it's unsurprising to find that the bulk of their set hinges on material from this album. It's easy to see why, as it's a well-crafted, well-written and well-played piece that still sounds fresh today. Third Eye Blind had the spark, the talent and the drive to outlast and outdo most of their competition and could continue a fruitful career milking this album alone. It's that good.

Free Music Review: Best Ever?- No Competition
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is the best ever, no question. The lyrics are catchy at first, but after you've listned a couple of times you begin to see how deep the lyrics really are. Here is a review of each song, one by one.

1) Losing a whole year: A song, like so many of their songs that I wasnt impressed by at first. It grew on me unbelievably fast.

2)Narcolepsy: A very catchy song, with the typical 3eb style. I loved it the first time I listened.

3) Semi-Charmed: What can you say? The best song ever.

4) Jumper: A very deep song. I liked it at first because of the catchiness, then I really realized what a great, deep song this was.

5) Graduate: A very punk rocky song, that isn't my style. If it is your style, you'll love it.

6)How's it Gonna Be: A very very catchy song. Before I even knew I liked it, I found myself singing it to mself.

7)Thanks A-Lot: This song is the closest this album comes to filler. Not much content, althogh it does have a pretty good chorus.

8)Burning Man: Another semi-filler song. This song has better lyrics and a better chorus then #7.

9)Good for you: This song grew on me greatly. Some of my friends hate it, so you'll have to decide yourself.

10)London: A fast-paced song that would be one to sing along to if you could catch up with Jenkins.

11)I Want You: A song I never really liked, but my friends love it. In this album, this is the song I skip over.

12) The Backround: One of the best songs I've ever heard.(the only other songs better are on this album)This song showcases jenkins voise beautifully.

13) Motorcycle Drive By: I've never really listened to this much, I'm not sure why.

14)God of Wine: Wow. After all of the other awesome songs, you'd think they'd have run out of inspiration. This is my 2nd favorite song of all time. This song is slower than most, a great song to fall asleep to.

This the best CD of all-time. The best songs of all time?-

1)Semi-Charmed

2)God of Wine

3)Jumper

4)The Backround

Again WOW!!!!! :)

P.S: Blue RULES too!
