Free Music Notes for Bastard Life or ClarityFree Music Review: True Talent Hit: 5 Stars
I just recently got this album. I bought it without hearing any songs. Well, after hearing some song samples and seeing the video to "Sail Those Same Oceans", I KNEW I made the right decision. This is a true talented band. It's safe to say that Russell Crowe is an all-around talent...he's not just another actor/wannabe singer. Even if you're not a fan of his, that shouldn't matter...the WHOLE band is very good!!As for the songs, the songs are great. They each tell a story of some kind. My favorite songs are "Sail Those Same Oceans" and "Judas Cart". I have been playing those songs over and over and over and over again. I can also safely say that the rest of the songs are very good. It's too bad that not more people have discovered TOFOG, but I can see the critics say that it's just another actor trying to be a singer, but that's NOT the case with this band...they have been around for awhile. Even if Crowe wasn't an actor, he would've been known as a singer...and he's got a great voice to boot. IF you're hestiant to take a chance and discover the great music of TOFOG, don't be...I highly recommend this album and the band!!! Their time is coming, it's just around the bend!!
Free Music Review: I MET TOFOG IN AUSTIN! They were AWESOME just like this CD! Hit: 5 Stars
I've had this album since February (yup, ordered it from Australia when it was first released) and it my favorite next to the band's "GASLIGHT" album. Even my 5 babies ages 6, 5, 4, 2, and 1--know all the words to the songs by heart, as we listen to it on our way to school every morning. Russell and Dean have brilliantly written beautiful, irresistable songs--each one telling a story (i.e Wendy, Legend of Barry Kable, Memorial Day). I went to see TOFOG in Austin, TX this past August, and they performed most of the songs in this CD LIVE---and let me tell you---they ROCKED! I met the band before the concert at the Continental Club, as well as be fortunate enough to get invited to their backstage party---and all I can say is these guys are the sweetest, nicest, not to mention most beautiful blokes I have ever met! Dean, Russell, Dave W., Dave K., Garth, Stewy, Bruno, Andrew, Mark, Ralph, Russell G., Aborigine Russell-- because of you guys, my Austin experience will never be forgotten! I am on my 2nd BLOC CD (jealous husband broke the first one), and never get tired of listening to this music. Buy the CD and you'll see----you won't be disappointed!

Free Music Review: Definitely a must-have! Hit: 5 Stars
Well I bought TOFOG's "Gaslight" cd before this one and although I liked it, it was a little more gritty than I really like...not to mention the fact that Russell Crowe slipped off-key quite a bit. (But that's okay...to me the guy can do no wrong *hehe*) I would recommend it despite this because it's still a good variety...and there are a few live tracks where we get to hear that lovely accent. Plus if you don't know the story of Barry Kable, this is where you can here Crowe tell it. Now for BLOC. Well I was thoroughly impressed. I listen to it daily. It's obvious that the guys of TOFOG have really evolved as a band and they sound more together. Awesome! All the songs have a good beat to them and the best thing is that Crowe and Cochran write almost all of their songs. My favorite songs on this cd are "Swept Away Bayou," "Sail Those Same Oceans," and "Barry Kable". ....
Free Music Review: Just plain good music Hit: 5 Stars
WOW. Attitude adjustment: The thinking should not be "What? Russell Crowe, the actor, can sing?" but rather "What? Russell Crowe, the singer, can act?" At the risk of being redundant, wow. If sex had a voice, it would sound like Russell Crowe, but that's just my opinion (I could be wrong). Interestingly, when I went to (many) music stores today to find more by this group (I am wearing out this CD...), only one had any of their CD's. I then discovered that "Gaslight" seems to be this same CD but with a few more songs--don't know if any are missing, I just glanced and moved on when I saw all the duplications. You might want to look into that.
