Free Music Notes for Thoroughly Modern Millie (2002 Original Broadway Cast)

Free Music Review: Everything today is thoroughly modern....
Hit: 5 Stars

This recording is wonderful.

Sutton Foster is just amazing. I can't really say it enough :) Incredible voice and her songs are so catchy. "Forget About The Boy" and "Gimme Gimme" are showstoppers.

Gavin Creel is also another standout. He sounds incredible on this recording with "I turned the corner" and "What do I need with love."

Marc Kudisch never ceases to entertain me. Buy this recording for "The Speed Test" alone. He told me it doesn't work if it's too slow so that's why it's insanely fast. Great songs.

Harriet Harris, Angela Christian, and Sheryl Lee Ralph are also great on this recording. The ensemble sounds so incredibly full and perfect. Buy this CD but also - don't forget to get to NYC to see this amazing show. It's definitely not worth passing up. Sutton will just amaze you. Happy buying :)

Free Music Review: A must for those who have seen the stage show
Hit: 5 Stars

After you watch "Thouroughly Modern Millie" on the stage, you realize that you didn't see a classic. Nonetheless, you just spent 3 hours thouroughly entertained and happy, and you want to harness the energy of the performance. Well, after I saw "Millie" at the Marquis Theatre in New York, I walked right down the street to the Virgin Megastore and bought the soundtrack. Listening to the melodic tones of Sutton Foster's "Millie Dillmount" just blew me away. Ms. Foster has the makings of being the next standouts on Broadway if she can follow her Millie in the same way with her next role, she could be the next Bernadette Peters. Gavin Creel's rendition of "I Turned the Corner" is also a joy to listen to, as are Ken Leung's and Francis Jue's tracks with the reprise of "Not for the Life of Me" and "Muqin."

Free Music Review: Thoroughly Exceptional!
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a musical addict, and I must say that after I saw this show, I knew I had to buy the soundtrack! I have listened to it backwards and forwards, the vocal talent is amazing and the tunes are all so catchy and fun. The lyrics are all incredibly clever and entertaining (Not For the Life of Me ~ Chinese style! and Speed Test especially!). I highly recommend this cd (and the musical!), for it is sure to become a classic, feel-good musical, and the fact that Sutton Foster is Millie is reason enough to buy it! She is astounding as Millie and this will mark the beginning of a surely successful carrer in the business! If you want to smile on the way to work, definitely buy this cd!

Free Music Review: Thoroughly modern Millie - a great musical!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have not seen it on broadway yet but the songs are sensational. This is a brand new musical with (as far as I can tell) nothing at all bad in it. I've memorized most of the songs. They're clever and really original. They're classics. I'm trying to write my own musical that I hope someday might get on broadway but whenever I try to write one of the songs for it, one of Thoroughly modern Millie's come into my head instead. (Ooh! That rhymes!) Anyway, I'm hoping to go to New York City someday and the three musicals that are playing now that I want to see the most are Beauty and the beast, The lion king and Thoroughly modern Millie - a truly great musical!

Free Music Review: SUDDENLY SWEET SUTTON - WOWIE!
Hit: 5 Stars

A RARE treat during these times to find a Gem of a Gal and a Stunner of a Show to just 'get you away from it all'. That's our Sutton! Just one note and she's gotcha! Different? Sure. The play does owe quite a lot to the original - but it stands very firmly on its own tapping toes! [There's seems to be a slight smattering of Gilbert and Sullivan here and there - especially at the beginning perhaps - or was that just moi?]

But folks - if ya haven't hoid Miss Sutton's "Gimme, Gimme" you've been deprived of sheer JOY!

[and Harriet Harris ain't too bad either!]

ABSOLUTELY a MUST HAVE!

{ps. How can anyone remain seated during a performance?}
