Free Music Notes for One XFree Music Review: Greatest album since LP Hit: 5 StarsThat's right. Linkin Park is my favorite too, so saying that this CD is the best one since Linkin Park's Meteora...truly says a lot. Every song here is terrific. From front to back, this CD has depth.
Now for the review:
1. It's All Over - This opening is a lot like their debut's opening, "Burn." The main difference is, this one's better. You have to listen to this song with headphones. The beginning is awesome, 'cause it switches from ear to ear and makes your head feel funny. I for one like that feeling. (9/10)
2. Pain - The second single isn't, in my opinion, their best song on the CD, which means that anyone who loves the song (and a lot of people do) should buy this CD. Love the guitar. (10/10)
3. Animal I Have Become - The debut single is very very catchy. The guitars are something to get you pumped, so listen to it while weightlifting. Or listen to it 'cause it's good, I don't really care which. (10/10)
4. Never Too Late - This, their third single, really does sum up the whole CD. It starts out with an acoustic guitar, then steadily carries into a alt metal song by the time the powerful chorus hits. The emotion is fantastic, and it's one of my favorite songs on the CD. (10/10)
5. On My Own - The worst song on the CD, but even that's hard to say. On another CD, this could be a single. This is the most like a punk song, but that's mainly the guitars' work. (8/10)
6. Riot - Sweet intro. Like "Animal I Have Become," this is a song to pump you up. Very catchy. During concerts, the crowd should go wild, and if they don't, they suck. If they don't, BE THE LEADER. Start something. Just start jumping around and screaming, "YEEEEAH, LET'S START A RIOT!!! YEEEEEEAH!" If no one else does it, sit down. (10/10)
7. Get Out Alive - Spooky opening guitars. The guitars carry through the song, and Gontier's vocals give a ghost story-esque feeling. If I read a ghost story with this song, my day would be made. (10/10)
8. Let it Die - Possibly my favorite song on the CD. Probably most emotional. Certainly a 10 out of 10. (for rating, see previous sentence)
9. Over and Over - Also, possible my favorite song on the CD. The violins make this song what it is. Refreshing guitars, emotional vocals. This is a definite 10. (for rating, see previous sentence)
10. Time of Dying - Very melodic. Very great. The instruments make you feel like a pimp. The triumphant vocals add to the feeling of the song. With these qualities, it makes it a strong song towards the climax of the CD. (10/10)
11. Gone Forever - Initially, it was probably my favorite song on the disc, and now...it still is. Sorry for the implication that it wasn't anymore. But anyway, this song is set up like "Never Too Late" how it starts out with the acoustic, then creeps into a full-blown melodic, emotional rock song. I want to stop handing out 10's, but I can't on this song. (10/10)
12. One X - Cool slow song (slow by Three Days Grace standards, at least). You need to listen to this song in a place that you want to remember, because that's what this song does. If you hear it somewhere in the desert or something, that's what you'll think of when you hear it again. I don't know how it happens, but that's what happened to me. And it looks like the 10's keep on coming. Great way to close out the normal CD. (10/10)
13. Running Away (for those who got this bonus track) - They did well to keep this off the regular CD. Not that it's a bad song, but it doesn't fit with the rest of the songs. I love the change of pace about 2 and a half minutes in. The 10-streak stops here. (8/10)
Overall, great great great CD. I like the "acoustic metal" thing going on with most of the songs. Great emotion, vocals, instruments, everything. And that comment on "One X" about remembering where you were when you heard the song actually suits most of the songs. So listen to this CD somewhere cool. Or close your eyes. In any case, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
In related news, my friend loves this CD as well. That's 2 out of 2 people, my friend. BUY IT.
Free Music Review: My favorite hard rock cd of 2006 Hit: 5 StarsI enjoyed their debut album quite a bit, but this effort is vastly superior. "Animal I Have Become" and "Pain" have been getting the attention as singles, but I believe every song on this album to be worthy of getting radio play.
For the hard rock genre, I think these guys are ushering in the new generation of hard rock. Out with the old (Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Alice IN Chains, etc.) and in with the new. While their will always be a special place in my heart and music collection for those old school hard rock/grunge bands, the new hard rock scene is in some capable hands with 3 Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, and others.
Free Music Review: Must to hear, must to have Hit: 5 StarsListening to the CD, having fun, excellent masterpiece of 21st century rock. Thanks guys, the second CD is so rarely good so this should be bought. Animal is awesome.
Free Music Review: LOADED WITH HITS! Hit: 5 StarsThis is one CD you don't need a remote in hand. The first 3 songs are great, and get tons of radio time. The other songs deserve the same credit. Good riffs, lyrics with meaning, and a good mix of hard to soft. Over and Over is a song that should not be over looked. It will be on the radio in no time to get sick of before you memorize all the other songs by heart. It's been ages I can say I play a CD through to the end with no skips. Definitely worth the time and money!! Won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Great! Hit: 5 StarsThe first Three Days Grace CD was pretty good, however, it wasn't very unique and by now, we're all sick of hearing "Just Like You" on the Radio. One X is a pleasant surprize. Even better than their first album, there is not one bad song on it.
If you've heard "Animal I have Become" on the radio and liked it, GET THE ALBUM! "Animal I have Become" is a very good song but there are some even better songs on the album.
The best are "On My Own", "Over and Over", and "Get Out Alive" - All catchy, very nice melodies. That said, nearly every song on this album is catchy (with the exception possibly of "One X" - the title song, which is probably my least favorite track. I still like it, though).
Yeah, it's nothing overwhelming revolutionary but if you're a fan of Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Shinedown, Hinder, Seven Wiser, even Hoobastank, you'll probably love this album. In terms of heaviness, it's slightly lighter than Breaking Benjamin's older music, heavier than Hoobastank. Great album.
