Free Music Review: So what?

Let's get the obvious out of the way, this album is dedicated to the sounds that were originated by Pantera. This isn't the first band that has done this (A Perfect Murder) and I'm sure it won't be the last. The thing that needs to be mentioned is this.....whereas previous bands have tried to emulate the infamous Pantera sound, they have always failed and ultimately created lackluster albums. The difference with this album and those bands that have failed is that Throwdown's new album is actually BETTER than some of what Pantera actually released. Pantera's "Great Southern Trendkill" and "Far Beyond Driven" were very weak albums. Throwdown's "Venom and Tears" is far superior in both the quality of the songwriting and overall sound. So if we want to bash Throwdown for being "like" Pantera than so be it, but you must admit that this album is far superior than at least 50% (and possibly more) of what Pantera ever released. There's not one bad song on this album. Nothing can be identified as "filler." The only negative people give to this album is that they "sound like" Pantera or they have some grievance against the band because they've refused to release the same album 100 times over again (like most metal bands).
