Free Music Notes for Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before ChristmasFree Music Review: Not so hidden treasures Hit: 5 Stars
The Nightmare Before Christmas has always been an absolute classic film with an equally wonderful soundtrack due to the undeniable talents of Danny Elfman.
Any Boingo fan will delight in an Elfman composition whether it be The Simpson's theme, his latest sountrack or the magical Serenada Schizophrana.
Any Elfman devotee will feel blessed to hear the demo's which have been included on this special edition. Those being less familiar with the talents of Danny Elfman will, no doubt, find much to appreciate through this collection.
The inclusion of artists such as Marilyn Manson and Panic! at the Disco is a wonderful touch as it indicates how Danny Elfman has inspired many with his intuitive and humorous touches.
An absolute 'Treat' for those who love Jack Skellington.
An undeniable treasure for those yet to meet The Pumpkin King.
Free Music Review: His Halloween!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Well, disc 1 is Danny Elfman's classic soundtrack to the film that is of course great (goes without saying). Disc 2, to mu pleasent surprise was pretty cool as well. Marilyn Manson's cover of "This Is Halloween" is absolutely IMO, it's not only the best track on the album, but it is one of the best cover songs ever recorded in the history of history. I was almost certain that he would have messed that song up...but he really does an amzing job. Even if you hate Manson, ..you won't hate this song. As for the other covers, I liked Fiona Apple's cover of "Sally's Song", and I thought the She Wants Revenge cover of "Kidnap The Santy Claws" was a good eightees style presentation, kinda Depeche Mode-eske. The other bands on the disc all did an ok job, but it's really all about the Manson cover when it's all said and done.
Free Music Review: Classic seasonal favorite Hit: 5 Stars
It's apparent that the re-release of Nightmare Before Christmas nowadays is to cash on a re-released holiday classic. I'll admit that the movie is one of the top films on my favorites list and for good reason--the movie is simply innovative and entertaining. The music (as Nightmare Before Christmas is a musical) is an important part of the story and is brilliant, showcasing composer Danny Elfman at the top of his game. Each song on Disc 1 is perfection. Disc 2 is newly added covers of these classic tracks and though admirable attempts just don't live up to the brilliant original format versions. The demos of Nightmare Before Christmas' tunes are nice for avid Elfman fans but Disc 1 alone is the real reason to buy this. Despite Disc 2's unmemorable moments the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack is classic.
Free Music Review: Great Movie, great soundtrack! Hit: 5 Stars
The Nightmare Before Christmas basically defines Halloween, what better way to have Halloween with you always then this CD? Load onto your iPod and it's good to go. The 3D cover art is really cool along with both CD's. The first CD is the original soundtrack and it's pretty much amazing. From The Overture to The End Title all the music is fantastic and clear as crystal. The second CD is remixes and demos. Most of the remixes are really cool. The only two I don't like are Sally's Song by Fiona Apple and Kidnap The Sandy Klaws by She Wants Revenge. I prefer Catherine O'Hara's version of Sally's Song and Kidnap The Sandy Klaws sounds way better when the cast sings it. All in all a great CD from a great movie. If your a fan of the movie, don't miss out! Buy this CD and you will not be disappointed!!
Free Music Review: Pansies... Hit: 5 Stars
Whenever an an "old" subject is re-done in any way, there are awlays cynical people to go along with it. True, not all the new versions are great, but they are all impressive. You have the weak remake of Kidnap the Sandy Claws done by She Wants Revenge, but in contrast you have stong version of What's this? done by Fall Out Boy. Some people have become so comfortable in there cushion of the old and familiar, that when a fresh idea about something familiar arises, they are to afraid to accept the fact that it might be good. So you get a group of grumpy people shaking their fingers at tasteful innovation, then they retreat to go hide in their shells.
