Ok, the source material (Elfman's original score) is already incredible. The covers of his songs increase the incrediblity by ten. Manson's, Fiona's, and Fall Out Boy's covers are some of the best songs I've heard in a long time. And I listen to music constantly. I think the reason is that Elfman being a classical composer, his type of music is more thoughtful and thought-provoking than regular rock bands and artists. This soundtrack's a classic! A must have for any Nightmare Before Christmas/Tim Burton fan; you can probably sing these songs word for word! The additional cd with various versions of the songs is excellent, and I especially enjoy Fiona Apple's version of "Sally's Song". The Danny Elfman demos are amazing, and it's entertaining to hear how they compare with their finished versions. She Wants Revenge's cover of "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" is amazing as well.Free Music Review: very advisable...

i waited about 5 weeks for this cd (i live in germany, thats why it took so long) but it was damn worth it!!!!
on the first cd are all the original songs from the movie and on the second are the most important songs (e.g. "this is halloween", "whats this") performed by artists like panic at the disco, fall out boy or marilyn manson...
for all who love the movie is this cd a "must-have"!!!!

Both versions of "What's this?" are great! Danny Elfman had already conquered my admiration and respect with Batman's and The Corpse Bride's soundtrack, but The Nightmare Before Christmas is my number 1 for a bunch of reasons: the interpretations are awesome and the new versions in the second CD have profoundly delighted me. This disc includes the origianl soundtrack which is fabulous but the bonus dsic is where the real gold is! The 5 covers songs are so worth it! My faveorite is Fall Out Boys version of "What's This?" Which then leads into a sweet "Kidnap The Sandy Claws" by She Wants Revenge which honestly I didn think I would like but I LOVE! Make this your first purchase on AMAZON.COM
