Free Music Notes for Tim McGraw - Greatest Hits AlbumFree Music Review: High Hopes But Falls Short Hit: 2 StarsThere is no denying the success of Tim McGraw. After years of listening to his music, I still have not figured out why he has the success, but it can't be denied. And so, when I learned of his "Greatest Hits" package, I was eager to get a copy. Although I am not a fan, I do like several of his songs. So, I figured a "hits" package was the solution to not wanting to purchase his individual releases. Then I read the track list and changed my mind. What kind of a Tim McGraw collection misses out on two of his best songs? "Everywhere" and most of all "One of These Days" are not included. This is terribly sad. These great songs were not included, but those awfully irritating, sappy, pathetic duets with Faith Hill were included. We all know that Tim and Faith make love. We all know how much they love each other and how they have the storybook marriage. Is it really necessary to hear it over and over again? Some would say yes. Okay, fine, I'll let it go. But it is not necessary to hear that and not be able to hear a great song such as "One of These Days." Tim McGraw knows how to pick good songs...sometimes. Some of his songs are examples truly great music ("One of These Days," "Please Remember Me"). Others are completely disposable ("Indian Outlaw," anything with Faith Hill). His voice lacks substance. It isn't the greatest voice in country, but the songs make up for it. Knowing this, I am once again saddened by the lack of two of his best. Sorry folks. This "Greatest Hits" is not what we expected. But since Tim is the hottest thing in country right now (of course, so are the Dixie Chicks if that says anything for you), I'm sure this album will sell millions and millions. It seems people have lost what music is all about when Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks, Britney Spears, and Backstreet Boys sell millions of records. When music comes around (and eventually it will) this collection will not seem so important. I can't wait.
