Free Music Notes for All I WantFree Music Review: Good Album Hit: 5 Stars
Tim McGraw, son of baseball player Tug, started his career with rocked-up, honky-tonk fastballs; but now, as if realizing there's a full season ahead, he settles in and sets out to make a name for himself as a balladeer. ALL I WANT, his third album, starts and ends with country-rock anthems, but the pitch he keeps going back to is a softer, more plaintive one. The songs here, including "Can't Be Really Gone," a string-bathed ballad in which a guy sifts through every tangible reason why the woman who just left him couldn't have actually left ("Her book is lying on the bed/The two of hearts to mark her page/Now, who would ever walk away/At chapter twenty-one"), and "I Didn't Ask And She Didn't Say," about an awkward meeting of old lovers, are truly affecting. McGraw sings them with just enough of a catch in his voice to suggest the romantic pain they evoke, without going overboard toward melodrama.Yet, rock and roll still courses through McGraw's veins. "She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart" has an electric guitar jangle that suggests a middle-ground between John Hiatt, Jim Lauderdale and Marshall Crenshaw, and "Renegade" has a southern rock chorus the Outlaws would've loved. You can almost feel the twitch in his hips when he sings "I Like It, I Love It." You may also remember those songs some day as gimmicks. The ballads you're likely to just plain remember. Overall a good buy.
Free Music Review: The Long Lost CD... Hit: 5 Stars
Besides Tim's first album, 3 out of his 4 albums since then have won the coveted album of the year award ("Not A Moment Too Soon", "Everywhere", and "A Place In The Sun"). With all the attention given to those three albums, it can be easy to forget just how great this album is. An awesome variety of songs written and sung for people like you, it is nearly impossible to resist singing along. Every one of Tim's albums is like a rechargeable battery. When you listen to them, they energize you and fill your body with emotion and spirit. When you're done, pop them back into the case and the next day they sound just as fresh as the day you bought them. Other singers have better voices, others can write their own material, and others can sell-out and sell 15 million records by going pop, but no one can sing to YOU the way Tim McGraw does. Not Garth Brooks, not Shania Twain, nobody. When you listen to his cd's, it's like he's driving along with you or sitting in your living room putting on a personal concert, I can't really explain it, it's just something you hear and feel. "All I Want" is certainly no exception and really appeals to the hard-working class that relies on country music for sympathy and direction. A great album with some of his best album tracks not released as singles to date, if you don't already own this album, what are you waiting for?
Free Music Review: Third album consolidated Tim's career Hit: 5 Stars
Tim's first album, a solidly traditional country album, was a flop. His second, rooted in tradition but with a contemporary edge, gave him his breakthrough with Indian outlaw. This album built upon that success and had more of a contemporary sound though it should still appeal to many traditional country fans, though Tim's fourth album (Everywhere, the album that firmly established Tim as a major country star) has much more of a contemporary feel to it.
Tim's voice, a sort of cross between John Anderson and Kenny Rogers, may not appeal to everybody (whether set to contemporary or traditional backing) but I love it. There are many wonderful songs, both ballads and up-tempo. The most instantly memorable song her is the catchy, upbeat song, I like it I love it, while other great songs include All I want is a life and She never lets it get to her heart. Other highlights include I didn't ask and she didn't say, The great divide and Don't mention Memphis.
For those fans that like their country music to at least have some connection with tradition, this may be the last of Tim's albums that they can enjoy. I also like some of his later albums (especially Everywhere) but this is a very enjoyable album.
Free Music Review: Superb cd that represents the "coming of age" of a superstar Hit: 5 Stars
Tim McGraw's All I Want cd is as good as it gets. As the follow-up to` his breakthrough five times platinum Not A Moment Too Soon disc and precursor to 1998's well deserved CMA Album of the Year (and 4-times platinum) "Everywhere" "All I Want" stands in a class all by itself. With no less than half of the albums cuts slow, or midtempo leaning, Mr. McGraw was obviously heading for a more mature direction, and has succeeded, as all 6 of these tracks are excellent. From the haunting sentiment of "Can't Be Really Gone," to the 80's pop-rockish 'I Didn't Ask..." to "When she wakes Up..." McGraw proves that he can create a concept album. This is just a great disc and I really can't take the time to review it intelligently because I'm listening to "I Didn't Ask..." and I keep repeating it. I love this song. I know I"m nearly 4 years late, but Tim, damn, you are changing my whole program here!!! Man,I'm feeling you!! "I wonder does she think about Jackson Hole, nights beside the fire and angels in the snow, so many times I've wondered does she thinkof me that way" Tim, just keep singing 'em like this and you've got a fan for life!
Free Music Review: Tim Mcgraw-All I Want Hit: 5 Stars
I have been listening to Country Music ever since I was a little boy and let me tell you,it don't get no better than Tim Mcgraw!! If you liked/ loved his first Cd,well it only gets better and better after listening to that one! I have all of Tim's CD's and you won't find an artist who is more true to what he writes and how he gets it across to his fans all over the world.I am a huge music lover of all types.I am extremely picky about connecting with that certain artist or song. The song first of all has to really touch me inside, kinda like the first time you had butterflies in your stomach or goose bumps on your arm. That is eactly the kind of artist Tim Mcgraw is and always has been. When he writes a song, well you can believe he will tell it from his heart and soul.
