Free Music Notes for Jesus Christ Superstar: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack AlbumFree Music Review: Remarkable Interpretation of the Christ Story Hit: 5 Stars
After listening to this recording several times, I'm still struck by Webber and Rice's interpretation of Christ's story; the unexpected sypmathy for Judas, Christ's humanity and vulnerability, and the attention given to the politics of His story. Also, to my surprise, I'll play it when I just need a good dose of vintage rock & roll...check out the bass line on track 9 of disc 2 and the guitar work throughout. Can't miss with this double disc!
Free Music Review: Jesus Christ Superstar Hit: 5 Stars
The first time I heard the music was watching the movie when it first came out. I was on a submarine transiting from Faslane, Scotland to Halifax, Nova Scotia for a liberty rest after a Northern Atlantic patrol.
We (the crew) almost wore the sprockets off the 16mm version copy. The music has always hummed in my memory, and many times I have found myself humming or whistling the refrain. Now with todays technology I really can get it going.
Free Music Review: 70s Music Lovers Dream Hit: 5 Stars
You have to watch the video of the original musical that this was recorded to get a real connection but there is no doubt that this is beautiful music. I love love love 70s music, listening to my mother's old records, I couldn't get enough of it. This stuff is like chocolate to me, so rich. The guitars and chorus, and melodic repeating rifs are so beautifully placed together. I highly recommend to fellow music lover's and anyalists alike.
Free Music Review: Good Hit: 5 Stars
This is a good translation onto CD from the movie. If you are expecting the solid, powerful vocals present on the rock opera album, you won't get it here. They are not weak by any means, just 'different'. But it does make for good comparison between the two albums. There are aspects of the Judas I like on this album and some I like on the other. Same with Jesus. It is good to see how two different singers approach the characters.
Free Music Review: JCS- A Funky Rock Musical Odyssey Based On The Four Gospels Hit: 5 Stars
In 1970,Andrew Lloyd Webber and Timothy Rice created a two-record rock opera based on the last seven days of Christ's life. Upon the release of the record, the project came to be called "JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR ." Ted Neeley is an annoying vocalee, but Carl Anderson is the best"Judas" vocalee. In 1992,the play opened in Los Angeles. In 1997,the play ended in New York's Mark Hellinger Theatre. Thus the project ended.
