Free Music Review: Funny, funny stuff -- but see IMPORTANT NOTE at the end.
Hit: 4 Stars

Tim Wilson is one of my favorite comedians. He's a regular guest on the John Boy and Billy radio show, and is always interesting, and a tad unpredictable when he gets wound up about something. His live shows in comedy clubs are also a hoot.

"Church League Softball Fistfight" (the song) is classic Tim, a mix of Baptist zeal and unrepentant roughneckery that's a good overview of what this guy's stuff is like.

"Heaven on a Technicality" is a surprisingly honest look at the Southern view of salvation, and also right in Tim's strike zone.

And if you like your Christmas songs loud and goofy, there's "Darryl Stokes," a song I've heard him perform live before, but I don't think has ever been on an album.

He might seem to be just one more of the current oversupply of "redneck" comics at first listen. But much like his hosts on the Big Show, Tim can be surprisingly smart and insightful when you least expect it. Highly recommended.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Like a previous reviewer, I say a pox on copy-protected CDs. Unlike that reviewer, however, I'm not going to totally stick it to the artist. I know Tim probably had no control over this happening. Still I'm going to reluctantly subtract one star from my review because of this consumer-unfriendly "innovation." Boo, Capitol. Tim -- you need to call your guy and kick some ass over this!
