Free Music Notes for All the BestFree Music Review: Great piece of music history Hit: 5 Stars
The one and only rock'n'roll diva in the world showed on this profuse double CD hits collection that she is one of the most important artists in history of music.
This collection contains 33 songs from five different decades. What a heritage! And all these songs sound here even better than ever. Every song is a great lesson of music, especially for many expressionless teenage sensations dominating on charts.
We can find on this album absolutely the biggest hits of Tina, but above all three brand new songs of legendary diva, especially "Open Arms" and amazing "Complicated Disaster". Another treasures are: massive European hit "Cose Della vita" (a duet with Eros Ramazzotti) and her first song recorded in 21st century "Great Spirits" from Disney's "Brother Bear" soundtrack - both released first time ever on Tina's own album. And hits "Tonight" (a duet with David Bowie) and "It's Only Love" (a duet with Bryan Adams), very good known from the album "Tina Live In Europe", are presented here in studio versions, also first time ever on Tina's own album.
Anyway, Tina's record company made here some mistakes. Instead of unfortunately little hits on charts: "I Can't Stand The Rain", "Paradise Is Here" and "Something Beautiful Remains" they should put on this collection much bigger: "Look Me In The Heart", "It Takes Two" (a duet with Rod Stewart) and "Whatever You Want". And why they didn't make use of the whole space of CD and left almost 15 minutes, which could be given to Tina's Grammy-winning hit "One Of The Living" from the "Mad Max III: Beyond Thunderdome" soundtrack and beautiful ballad hit "Way Of The World" from her earlier compilation "Simply The Best". Besides there shouldn't be any album versions of her hits, because they are longer and take back a place for one song, like for example "He Lives In You" from "The Lion King 2" soundtrack. And "Proud Mary" should be presented in classic Grammy-winning version from the 70's. After these very important corrections it would be a perfect collection. Maybe in another edition.
Like you see, it's a good compilation of excellent music. In general it's a compulsory title in music collection of absolutely every fan of music all over the world and at every age!
Free Music Review: TINA'S LATEST GREATEST Hit: 5 Stars
What do they ment by saying that Tina was the grandma of rock?, well a lot of things can enbody that meaningful strong word. The rock that they're talking about must be the power live performance that Turner gives on stage...still the Greatest Hits shows a more mellow woman. This Greatest hits could have gone in a single CD one, but to the pleasure of hardcore fans of Miss Nutbush, this record hold more than two hours of pure Rock.R&B.Adult music. There are as for all the singers in the world many misstep, but to be fair to Tina, her music trascends more that just the joint, her persona is an Icon to music. PRIVATE DANCER, one of the biggest highlights of Tina, you can feel the sultryness and melancolic feelin' on this track, a classic. BETTER BE GOOD TO ME so funky, so rock, a favorite to many, and here the original extended version, the beat can be beaten, and Tina's voice is exquisite. PROUD MARY although the live performance will always be the top of top, this studio version is just enigmatic...she's going to doit nice and easy, and then nice and rough. THE BEST, the perfect arena rock song, there could be no other. NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS so raw, so rock, this is one of the best things here, not the 90's mix, the original. IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS, at the beginning it's a song that maybe will not click , but after the lack of lyrics just the moaning of wanting love, it's amazing, coming from an unusual way. MISSING YOU, although many dig the original this version hold it's on thing. WHAT YOU GET IS WHAT YOU SEE, sounds like ol country to me, with a lil pop. TYPICAL MALE, this Tina's at her most pop stage, still great vocals. WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT, strong lyrics, it's her classic. GOLDENEYE a timeless Bond theme, deliver classiness. LET'S STAY TOGETHER, well Tina make it her own. Tina ALL THE BEST it's a great exposure of her music work, a testimony of a life in music. OPEN ARMS the new single sound like a clon of I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT, a perfect tune for the Adult outlets, maybe is cliche, butat least Miss Turner knows where here audience is now...One thing is for sure, Miss Turner will always be an ICON for music. *****FIVE STARS cos all her hits are included and *****FIVE STARS for her contribution to mainstream music.
Free Music Review: Phenomenal, excellent album of Tina's many hits! Hit: 5 Stars
After listening to both CDs, all 33 songs and 145 minutes of Tina Turner's All the Best, I was just speechless! Tina really proved it on all of these incredible songs! Two of the new songs are good ( I love Open Arms), while the third new song doesn't grab me. I am already pushing the CD button on favorites like We Don't Need Another Hero, Private Dancer, What's Love..., Proud Mary, When The Heartache, I Don't Wanna Fight (which I still love a decade later) and other songs. Cose Dela Vita with Ergo was another surprise here as Tina sings in another language. The songs are mixed up a bit, but this is what Tina wanted and how she wants it to sound. Vocally, she is just dynamic with her range and how she sings and approaches the songs. Would have liked a few more songs she did with Ike Turner, but maybe she declined to do that. And she can do rock so very well on songs like Steamy Windows, Better Be Good To Me, The Best, Proud Mary, It's Only Love with Bryan Adams, Nutbush and others. One shocker on here is Wildest Dreams where she didn't use the album version of Barry White speaking in his sexy, bassy voice. You only hear Tina doing it on this song. She must have worked with the best rock male singers like David Bowie, Bryan Adams, Sting, Bono and others as they are featured on this album. Tina is known to shift styles a lot on the pop, rock and soul ends, yet still can do it so well on all fronts. I liked how she went with Brian Rawlings and Mark Taylor on the Believe-sounding When the Heartache Is Over and its rumbling keyboards. The Trevor Horn numbers and her songs with other producers are nice. But credit Terry Britten and Graham Lyle for being a major part of Tina's '80s comeback. Their many songs that they wrote and produced for Tina for some 5 to 6 consecutive albums are still memorable and enjoyable and their songs are all over these 2 CDs. What's Love, Hero and Two People are kind of like sisters to each other to continue that hit making formula they had for Tina. To talk about this album would take many days, because this is the right collection to cover her music success! Tina is simply the best at what she does!!!!
Free Music Review: At last, a complete Tina Turner compilation ! Hit: 5 Stars
This compilation is everything that Tina's fans, whether diehard or casual, have been wishing for. Forget the earlier "Simply the best" compilation, this one is what you need to put your hands on.The hits : from her early renditions of "Nutbush City Limits" and "River deep mountain high" right up to latter days smashes like "Missing you" and "When the heartache is over", and everything in between. Just look at the track listing and you'll see what I'm talking about : everything's in there. The collaborations : this compilation includes a few pretty cool collaborations and duets with David Bowie, Bryan Adams, Sting and Eros Ramazotti. The lesser known material : Tina has managed to include a few tracks that weren't necessarily her biggest hit singles, but that are an essential part of her repertoire. For instance : the beautiful and serene "Paradise is here", the funky "I can't stand the rain" and the live rendition of "Addicted to love", a song that Tina has been performing on stage ever since the mid-80s and that belongs to her as much as it belongs to Robert Palmer. And of course, the new tracks : the new hit single "Open arms" (no, not the Journey song), "Complicated disaster" and the lovely "Something special". The only minor complaint I have, is that Tina once again passed over "One of the living", a top ten hit single from 1985 that was on the soundtrack of "Mad Max 3". Of course, this song had been overshadowed by the enormous success of "We don't need another hero" from the same soundtrack (which is available on this compilation, of course !); but it still was a top ten hit single in North America, and I am puzzled to see that Tina has never performed this one live and that she has avoided including it on her compilations or on her boxed set. But this is a very minor complaint, since this didn't spoil the pleasure that I had listening to this compilation - and it certainly won't spoil yours either.
Free Music Review: Half a century of pop music Hit: 5 Stars
Tina began her career as a professional singer in the fifdties when, as Annie Mae Bullock, she was discovered by Ike Turner. Beginning as a background singer in his group, she quickly became the lead singer. They married in 1958 and had their first major pop hit, not in their American homeland, but in Britain where River deep mountain high (produced by Phil Spector) became a top three hit in 1963. It was only a minor hit in America but Proud Mary (a cover of the Creedence Clearwater Revival classic) provided Ike and Tina with a major American hit. Nutbush city limits became a major hit on both sides of the Atlantic.
Tina split with Ike, both professionally and musically, in 1976 but it was not until 1983 that her solo career took off. During the eighties, Tina had more success than ever before, scoring a British top ten hit in 1983 with Let's stay together (a cover of an Al Green song). Next came What's love got to do with it, a top three UK hit that made number one in America. We don't need another hero (from Mad Max beyond the thunderdome) was a huge international hit in 1985.
Tina may be most remembered for The best (generally known as Simply the best), which provided her with a huge international hit in 1989. Bonnie Tyler, a British singer whose voice has some similarities with Tina's, recorded the song a year earlier but her version completely missed the charts. Tina's cover version isn't any better than Bonnie's but she got the airplay and the success that followed.
Tina's success continued into the nineties and the new millennium, especially via her great duet with Bryan Adams (It's only love). Other notable tracks on this compilation include I don't wanna fight (written by Lulu), Tonight (a duet with David Bowie) and Goldeneye (a James Bond theme) but there is plenty of other great music here. You won't find a better Tina Turner compilation than this.
