Free Music Review: The best R&B CD of the 1990s, without a doubt
Hit: 5 Stars

After the unexpected success of their first CD OOOOOOOHHH....ON THE TLC TIP, people were wondering if TLC could rise to the occasion the next time around. Well, they didn't. They SURPASSED it with CRAZYSEXYCOOL, which won a Grammy in 1996 for Best R&B Album By A Duo or Group, and sold 10 million copies. They left the tomboyish image behind and presented themselves as mature young ladies, and became the biggest selling female trio in music history (as far as albums go...the Supremes still hold the record for most singles by a female trio). From the time you hear the mournful toots of a trumpet and T-Boz's sultry alto vocals croon "Oh wha, oh wha, oh wha" on the first smash single from this CD, "Creep" (another Grammy winner in 1996 for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group), you're hooked, and it only gets better as it goes on.

You can listen to this CD all the way through and not find a bad cut in the bunch. The use of samples are at a minimum, unlike OOOOOOOHHH...ON THE TLC TIP, which relied heavily on them. For example, "Creep" used the Slick Rick hit "Hey Young World" as a base for the song, but it is cleverly disguised, so you can barely tell a sample is being used. Mixing old school R&B, new jack swing, hip-hop, gospel and funk hits the mark on CRAZYSEXYCOOL. I loved everything on it, my favorites being the aforementioned "Creep", "Kick Your Game", "Case Of the Fake People", "Diggin' On You", the red-hot "Red Light Special", the thought-provoking, award-winning smash "Waterfalls" (why can't I get the image of TLC standing on water out of my mind?), the funky "If I Were Your Girlfriend" (T-Boz does an excellent job on this remake of the Prince classic), "Switch" and "Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes". No doubt this CD is already a classic, and will continue to be. This CD is one that should be in every household. T-Boz, Left Eye (R.I.P. Lisa, we love you) and Chilli will forever be CRAZYSEXYCOOL. TLC forever!

Free Music Review: THIS CD WAS OFF THE HOOK!
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is truly, the bomb. TLC has always been my favorite group since I was seven. When I first heard CrazySexyCool at the tender age of nine, I the heezy. It could go from a bass blasting, upbeat song to a slow sensual song.

"Creep," the first song on the album, is the type of song that will make any man think twice about cheating on his girlfriend. In the song, the girl is not getting enough love and attention from her man at home, so she figures that she will get her love elsewhere. "Kick Your Game," is a question that girls will sometimes ask men who step up to them (note to all the real TLC fans: If you ever read that Sister to Sister article when Left Eye on the front cover dressed as Wonder Woman, this song sounds a lot like how Lefty recalls meeting Andre Rison for the first time. Hmmm). "Diggin On You" is a song about a girl telling a guy that she's feeling him. "Case Of The Fake People," is well, about fake people. "Red Light Special" is a song about a girl about to "get down" (y'all know what I really mean) with a guy. "Waterfalls" is a song about how young people should be careful nowadays (I don't blame them, it's crazy out here nowadays). "Let's Do It Again," is a song about a girl asking a guy if she could re-live the moment when she was in ecstasy. "If I Was Your Girlfriend" is about a girl telling a guy what she'd do for him and asking what would he do for her if they were together. "Take Our Time" is basically about making love. "Switch" is a girl telling her man he needs to slow his role before she leaves him. "Sumthin' Wicked" is basically reflecting on all the evils of the world and how people wish that things were better.

This cd is just rocking and whoever hates it needs a reality check!

Free Music Review: Sh** Hot!
Hit: 5 Stars

TLC have been no strangers to the limelight since 1992, mainly for shenanigans outside of the recording studio. Sometimes overlooked however is the major impact this R'N'B Trio have exercised right back from the days of What About Your Friends & Baby,Baby,Baby. With their glow-colo(u)r outfits & big badges, at first glance they may have seemed like a throwaway teen-pop ensemble. That is however until the release of the cool titled CrazySexyCool. Spoken as one word, the girls' insistence on creating a new word for pop-culture's vocabulary forbodes interesting things. Almost 7 years later this album still blows me away - me & 12 million others. With almost every track co-written by at least one of the group, TLC proved their worth by producing an album of pure streetwise funk& r'n'b with an accessible pop edge. Creep, with its ultra funky horn hook & T-Boz's tenor vocals gave an insight into the cutting-edge coolness of the album. Waterfalls defines TLC's legacy with its socially conscious lyrics about keeping things real. Red Light Special shows that these gals had grown up & know how to get it on. NASTY!!! For me however, the album's highlights are some of the non-released trax. Something Wicked, the album's closer, sounds like a rip-off of Janet Jackson's This Time, but is a fantastic tune, while Let's Do It Again rips along & puts you in good mood. Add also a faithful rendition of Prince's If I Was Your Girlfriend & a sexy Take Our Time & you have one helluvan album. Worth its weight in gold & still sounding as fresh all these years later, the girls did themselves proud. By the way, there are some quite amusing narratives between the songs too - if you haven't heard them alreay these alone will make the album a vital purchase, just for the sheer fun of it -

Free Music Review: What Can I Say-TLC-Innovators-Simply One of the Best Female
Hit: 5 Stars

Hi,this album upon which I purchased when it first came out. I Just Love This CD. In fact I treasure all their music. It was so ahead of it time. We were introduce to the Young Ladies and saw how they develop not only through their personal lives their music was so controversial but so poignant. The producers, writer and TLC had a clear vision when they put their music together it was their stories or the stories they were telling. Allot of conviction went into they music. This is a Classic Albm another Exceptional not dated Release of music. I love the songs for one reason or another. My personal favorites that I can play, play and play again are the folloing:
2. Creep
3. CrazySexyCool - Interlude Listen
7. Red Light Special Listen
8. Waterfalls Listen
9. Intermission-lude
10. Let's Do It Again
11. If I Was Your Girlfriend
12. Sexy - Interlude
13. Take Our Time
14. Can I Get A Witness-Interlude
15. Switch
16. Sumthin' Wicked This Way

These ladies had a message through out their album and touched so many people Teen, 20 somethings, 30 something, 40 and up. Sure where their songs that are probably geared to someone very you in teen age or 20's but clearly you could feel and touch their lyrics and 3 ladies work as a team. We're their challenges and growing pains within the group. Yes. they were never afraid to be real with themselves and their fans. No Destiny Child can touch this legacy. These Girls ARe Simply One of the Best Female Groups.
I look forward to their return on their terms of course. Losing Left Eye is major Void. Such a Spirtual, Talented, Thought-provoking person. She is truly irreplaceable. God Bless TLC.

Free Music Review: Crazy...Sexy...Cool!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is by far not only the best LP by TLC, but the best album in all of popular music! You may disagree, but I think it's excellent! Every song is really outstanding (except for "Let's Do It Again", which I avoid listening to during the day). If you don't own this album, buy it! Even if you don't like R&B and Rap, you can start here, then you'll change your mind if you know what's good for you. You may have heard "Creep", "Redlight Special", "Waterfalls", and "Diggin' On You" which were all hits, especially Waterfalls, which receives heavy airplay. Each girl has a cool unique look and style, Left Eye's my favorite. This is when her voice was really high-pitched, it seemed to mature when FanMail came out, or did just decide to rap in a lower voice? I like her younger sounding voice better, I wish I could make my voice sound like hers, but it's just too unique! T-boz has that deep, sexy and scratchy voice that will get your head bobbing, and Chilli's high soulful voice chokes you up in songs like "Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes" and "Take Our Time." My favorite track is "Switch", which I'll play over and over again, can't get enough of it. Left Eye also has an excellent rap in this song, listen closely and you'll hear her sample "Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn..." from Sugarhill Gang's "Rappa's Delight". This album is from the mid-90s, back when music was at its best. There's no wonder why this album is 10x platinum. Can someone please tell me what "Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes" is about? *I just recently received tragic news of the loss of the wonderful Lisa Lopes. The pain is not with her who made an early transition to a better place but the people she is loved by, including myself. I am still in shock and tears*. Luv ya Lisa!
