Free Music Notes for FanmailFree Music Review: fanmail is blazing! Hit: 5 Stars
big r&b music lover. i've been following tlc almost from their initial entry into the music biz. this is a GREAT album. it is diverse. these girls were so big and cool when i was in high school. and they still are. if you weren't listening to tlc you weren't listening to great music! lol. it is so sad that Lisa (Left eye) died. now there won't be anymore fantastic music from this talented group. B/c frankly, no one can replace her. i really don't think i will buy a tlc album if they were to come out with a new member. i can't stand imitations or replacements. love t-boz's voice on this too. the futuristic sound of most of the whole album complements her raspy voice very well. my best songs:
1. silly ho- so true. catchy, love the beat, can't even explain it. to give you an idea it almost sounds like a neptunes song
2. no scrubs- nothing much needs to be said. just a great song. great beat. it was the hit song of the year! who doesn't know about it must've been living under a rock!
3. fanmail- similar to silly ho, it has a very futuristic, neptunes like beat. very catchy
4. unpretty-the other hit of the year. beautfiful lyrics. was very happy someone finally touched on that subject and summed it up so thoroughly & concisely
5. good at being bad- multi-layer song, funny lyrics
also, dear lie, has beautiful, truthful lyrics. which just illustrates that this is not one of those "all style and no substance" albums. no way. they took their time and wrote some fantastic lyrics to accompany their hot music..love the cover pic too!
Free Music Review: Earth is now missing an angel... Hit: 5 Stars
Overall, I think Fan Mail's a great album and decade-ender, but nothing can top CrazySexyCool. Well, I know this review is going to get many anti-helpful votes, but I feel this needs to be addressed. I am very shocked and saddened by the loss of the wonderful Lisa "Left Eye" Nicole Lopes, as many people are. She was as close as you could get to perfect: Great personality, high intelligence, cute looks, and outstanding multi-talent. She was a wonderful and kind person who was missunderstood because of her complexity. She is someone who I'd love to meet and person. I know that the pain is not brought upon her who is in a better place, but the fans and family she left behind. I am still in shock and tears. She was only 30, and could have had so much more in store for us adding to what she's accomplished during her life and her 10-year career. She was a great role-model who sent out positive messages. No one will replace her, but I hope more people begin to be more like her. I will miss her dearly. OK, I have plenty more to say but I don't feel comfortable taking up any more room on this page. I do have one of many questions for Tionne and Rozonda- are you going to continue as a duo or are you going to disband like Nirvana did? Well, I definitally know replacing is NOT an option. I am also saddened and frustruated by all of the deaths of great musicians over the past year who also happen to be favorites of mine. Luv ya, Lisa! Peace out to George Harrison, Aaliyah, Layne Staley and all the others as well.
Free Music Review: they aren't scrubs thats for sure Hit: 5 Stars
TLC rules the charts always and forever. the fact that the three girls are exact oposites and that they get along together and create good music as a whole. as they say in the vibe magazine "if one of us leaves, we can't be replaced because we flow together and it wouldn't be the same." the girls come off a lot stronger now a days on tracks like "silly ho", "i'm good at being bad", and the r+b influenced slow ballad "dear lie". the song dear lie is the best song or one of the best that i ever heard in my life. other songs that are really hot are "no scrubs" the blazing number 1 single, "shout", and "my life". the album features a lot more R+b influenced slow ballads like "dear lie", "come on down", "unpretty", "i miss you so much", "lovesick", and "don't pull out on me yet". it features interludes too including a computer generated voice in "the vic-e interpretation", a whispering playa hitting on Left Eye in "whispering playa", and T-Boz and Left Eye having computer generated voices on "communicate". The album has dance tracks that feature the original TLC like "fanmail", "automatic", "silly ho", "no scrubs", "i'm good at being bad", and "if they knew". it's true the girls are back and let them expect some more fanmail and let us expect at least one more album PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Free Music Review: TLC's Fanmail is millennium satisfying! Hit: 5 Stars
By now the world know that TLC is back and stronger than ever on their junior album, Fanmail which is dedicated to all of their 10 million plus fans. Fanmail itself is electrifying, satisfying and worth buying. TLC gives a stella performance on fanmail, from the first track, "Silly Ho" to the final track, "Don't Pull Out On Me Yet." With this album they will prove that they are not just players they are leaders and trend setters that are here to stay and reign forever. I strongly recommend Fanmail for the heart, mind, and sole. There's something on it for everyone. If you're into Hiphop and R'N B check out the tracks "Silly Ho", "No Scrubs", Love Sick", "Im Good At Being Bad", "If They Only Knew" and "Automatic." Hiphop's not for you? Well switch to the pop tracks: "Unpretty" and "Dear lie" both written by T-Boz and Dallas Austin. If you're looking for that soulful R 'N B just turn the dial to "I Miss You So Much" and "Come On Down." But if you're into techno-rock-pop-hiphop, "Shout" is your song. This song is the bomb, it will keep you moving. There's something special for all you 60's music fans, "Don't Pull Out On Me Yet." So there's nothing more to say so run out and buy Fanmail today. P.S. If you liked CrazySexyCool you'll love Fanmail, which is on a higher level than it's predeccessor! Fanmail actually come in two versions: the unedited and edited.
Free Music Review: One of the best R&B albums from 1999 Hit: 5 Stars
This album was released in February 1999, and 5 years later I'm still playing it like crazy. I've gone through so many copies of this cd, its ridiculous. But it's a really good R&B album. It was the first TLC album since 1994's CRAZYSEXYCOOL and in my opinion, it's the best. FANMAIL is a great concept album. "No Scrubs" was a huge hit. My only complaint is that the version on this CD is not the single version, the one with Left Eye's rap. There was some drama there with Left Eye and the group, and ultimately Left Eye is only on a handful of songs here. "Unpretty" was also a big hit, a nice anthem song. I really like the ballad "Dear Lie" which was not a big hit, but it packs an emotional punch that resonated with me big time. There's some really nice uptempo songs like "My Life", "Shout", "Silly Ho", "If They Knew", etc. There was a bit of controversy over "I'm Good At Being Bad" for its lyrical content. On the original pressings of this CD, on that song there was a sample used of Donna Summer's "Love To Love You Baby", she didn't like her song being used for such a song and asked that they remove it, so those copies of the CD that contain it are pretty rare. "I Miss You So Much" is a really sad ballad that I like quite a bit. Other highlights include the title track, "Automatic" and "Come On Down". Overall a really solid R&B album from one of the best female trios of our time.
