If I was in charge of rating the most underappreciated band of all time, I would have to pick Toad the Wet Sprocket. They simply never got the respect that they deserved. However, they had a nice cult following, which I was a part of back in the day. I bought this disc along with "Pale" through some mail-order record catalog that had them on sale for like $7 apiece. While the sound definately suggests "debut" and "unpolished", they did a great job with what they had with meaningful songs and a nice effort from a band simply trying to make a name for themselves. I would have put "When We Recovered" on the Greatest Hits package. But, I wasn't in charge of that, so I simply enjoy the songs for what they are.
