Free Music Review: Todd Rundgren does it again with ARENA!

This is another gem by Todd Rundgren. There is not one single sleeper in ARENA's song list. In several places, Mr. Rundgren utilizes many different "rock" styles in his songwriting that seems to include Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC (in the tune "Strike") and strangely enough, Robin Trower... not to mention blistering guitar solos which are tastefully placed throughout this album. Lyrically, there are messages about changing the world and the human condition which has awakened and attracted many of us for nearly 40 years. Overall, ARENA is an intense performance that is not to be overlooked. This 60 year-old wizard is on fire! Excellent!Free Music Review: Another gift of music from Todd - insightful and inspiring!!

I received my pre-ordered CD from Amazon (thank you Amazon!) and can't stop listening to this magnificent piece of artwork. Todd has once again redefined himself by going back to his roots, but in an altogether different direction. If that sounds like a contradiction, then you don't know Todd Rundgren. He continues to be different, yet is consistent in his approach. And this release is no different. Searing guitar work, driving foot-stomping rythms, beautiful vocals, thought provoking lyrics. If you are looking for music that you will sing along to and also music that will cause you to think - this disc is for you.Free Music Review: Eclectic and Entertaining

This Rundgren episode runs from cool and crazy to the sometimes tried and true Rundgren formula. Todd Rundgren "smashed the piggy bank" to make this record. It leaves the listener to wonder how hard it would be to churn out some more just like it. This cat could do covers all day long that would leave fans and nonfans drooling for more but he seems to take his own tack. Old fans will hear echoes of many past guitar greats. Rundgren is obviously part of the club. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, here is my next nomination

Free Music Review: Great Songs Period

Let's start with how people listen to music. In the car, in the front room, etc. I would only review a CD after repeated listenings with good headphones and as a long time Todd listener I love this CD. It may take a sec to get used to the sound, you might think a flashier drummer would help, or longer guitar solos. Then when you really get the words and how the words go with the music you say these are great songs. Todd is the Miles Davis of rock- constantly reinventing himself and this retro-re-invention is one of the best. I'm not afraid to learn...Free Music Review: TODD A-ROCKIN!

After Liars-which was a very synthesized record. It is great to have Todd back as a guitarist( an extremely underated one at that!)I saw Todd back in January here in Chicago and he and the band absolutely cooked!I have seen Todd countless times over the years(first in 1974)and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen of his!! Going to see him tomorrow(OCT.6)Can't wait to hear these songs performed live!
Needless to say- if you like or love Todd- You will love this record! 60 and still going strong!!
