Free Music Notes for The Remains of Tom LehrerFree Music Review: Be Prepared... to laugh a lot! Hit: 5 Stars
The man has no recognizable talent, a voice that sounds as if he gargles with old razor blades, and a piano style reminiscent of a 50 pound cat! (Having heard an interview of the man today, I KNOW how he loves terrible reviews!)That aside, this CD, a compendium of everything he purports to have put on tape, is a must-have for any true Lehrer fan. Although the second CD is merely the live versions of the first CD, it is still well worth the money. The previously unissued recordings make the collection, in my opinion.
Free Music Review: The great Tom Lehrer Hit: 5 Stars
I have been in love with Tom Lehrer since my daughter introduced me to him several years ago. To me one of the
amazing things is how relevant his work is today almost 50 years later. I have purchased quite a few copies of "The
Tom Lehrer Collection" for friends I thought would appreciate him. And they did. One of my favorites is "Smut"
which is not on the collection but is available on another CD.
Free Music Review: At Long Last! Hit: 5 Stars
I had just about worn out my LPs and was starting to worry! It's odd how I find myself humming the classics---New Math, the Element Song, Pollution, etc. --- at odd moments. Even though the songs were topical in the '50-60s, many of them are still fresh today. There's the satire, but there's also a delightful sense of humor (New Math), with quite a lot of mayhem (Poisoning Pigeons). A true pleasure!

Now who doesn't love Tom Lehrer? I had all of his Reprise label vinyl albums, and knew the words to every song therein, when I was in high school. Of course I got beaten up a lot.
If you don't know who Tom Lehrer is, then you probably won't enjoy this record. Otherwise, unless you have pristine vinyl, and my records have been overplayed, this is a very good compendium.
Free Music Review: Beautiful compilation, well mastered Hit: 5 Stars
The Remains of Tom Lehrer constitutes almost the entire corpus of Mr. Lehrer's works, preserved in its original hilarious form and accompanied by a lovely book detailing the life and works of this little-known comedian. Lehrer fans will not be disappointed at the breadth or quality of this set and it's a steal at the price.
