Free Music Notes for Anthology: Through the Years

Free Music Review: Awesome album
Hit: 5 Stars

Although Tom Petty has already been rock & rolling for a few decades, but this is actually the first time that I listened to any of his classic rock hits. Tom petty and the Heartbreakers' album "Anthology - through the years" collects the best hits of the artist in two discs. In this album, I found an artist uses many different styles to perform and present his work, from melancholy blues, sensual ballads, to rousing rock and roll. It shows the talents of the artist and the reason for him being the classic rock star of the time.
Simple and melodic guitar chords accompanied with the calm and uncomplicated rhythm, "Free falling" is one of the soft rock ballads that I love the most from this collection. "Jammin' me" and "Mary Jane's Last Dance" are both great tracks from the album that shows what Petty is most well-known for - Rock & Roll. Overall, I think the album is a great collection of classic rock and for the avid Petty fans; this album should be the must-own.

Free Music Review: forgotten pleasure
Hit: 5 Stars

I have read many reviews on TP and they are all correct. I recently realized my local library has CD's you can check out. Many of them are older titles.
I decided to listen to this all the way through on my news speakers (Klispch rf83) Like most of my music I have a new appreciation of most of my
older music since my new speaker purchase. So I popped this cd in my player and ohhh how I forgot about all the great music that Tom Petty has
made over the years. It brings back many memories so I have now listened to this 3 x's all the way thru. I even decided to buy his Live Anthology and on 180gm
vinyl I also bought the Mojo and Live Anthology on cd for my car. If anyone who wants to get a taste of of what TP has accomplished over the years get this cd.
Plus this remasterd version sounds soo much better that the origional recordings. And to all the TP fan's cudo's!

Free Music Review: A PERFECT PETTY BALANCE BETWEEN THE HITS CD & PLAYBACK BOX!
Hit: 5 Stars

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Anthology: Through The Years/MCA

This new 2 CD set Anthology: Through The Years/MCA collects 35 classics from Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers MCA years. All 17 of the 18 songs that make up the Greatest Hits CD issued in `93 are all here excluding "Something In The Air". This new set adds 17 more songs including "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around with Stevie Nicks and the new song "Surrender" that was written in `77 but not recorded until 2000. This is most likely the selling point to get this CD set, since this is the only place you can get it. A nice 11 page booklet filled with Petty & Co. info/photos rounds out the packaging. Whether you are a new fan or just discovering the band this collection strikes a perfect balance between the Greatest Hits & the Playback box set.

Free Music Review: Great Anthology Of Tom Petty's MCA Years
Hit: 5 Stars

ANTHOLOGY: THROUGH THE YEARS is a great collection of the material that Tom Petty did, both with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, while he was on MCA. If you want the two great songs from the otherwise disappointing SOUTHERN ACCENTS, get either this collection, or, if you don't want the original albums, the boxed set PLAYBACK. This set is a lot cheaper than the box, and includes a new song, "Surrender", as well as the hits from all of Petty's MCA albums. In other words, if you have all the original CDs except SOUTHERN ACCENTS, you need this one for the good cuts from that disappointing (but not terrible) album. Petty's opposition to Indonesia's trumped-up 2005 drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist makes this double-disc set an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.

Free Music Review: Tom petty 's best
Hit: 5 Stars

With a 2 cd set with 34 songs, I am satisfied. I bought this cd and was happy with 34 songs but of course I am not a huge fan of Tom Petty's but I do like his music. This is 10 times better than his greatest hits cd which only had 18 songs. The front cover is kind of weird but cool and the sound was good. Tom petty is a huge part of classic rock and this cd should be bought by any Tom petty beginner collector. I looked at all of the songs and just could not seem to find a song that was not one of his greatest. The amount of songs is just right for an anthology. Tom Petty just has that voice that you just want to hear more and more of. The heartbreakers really play their instuments pretty well. Well I hope this review helped you. Keep on listening to great classic rock and God bless you.
