Free Music Review: Bob, Paul, John, George, and Ringo!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

When released in January 1968, "John Wesley Harding" by Bob Dylan was the first recording released by Dylan since the '66 motorcycle accident. Many people were expecting some sort of psychedelic release from Bob that went beyond Blonde on Blonde, and would be his answer to Sgt. Pepper, Satanic Majesties, Mr. Fantasy, Are You Experienced? etc. As usual, he fooled them all. Instead, he reverted to his roots, and became Johnny Cash, Roger Miller, and Hank Williams with a good deal of Biblical storytelling. "John Wesley Harding" is a great recording. However, if Dylan had done what people were expecting him to do, or if Bob had teamed with the "Beatles" and created an recording it would have sounded something like "The Last DJ!"

Free Music Review: Tom is back...
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the things I've always admired about Tom Petty the celebrity was that he's never sold out. Now, there is proof that Tom Petty the musician won't either. He's telling it like it is about the sad state of music, while coming out with the best album he's made since "Wildflowers." It's witty, it's scathing, it's intelligent, and it rocks!

"The Man Who Loves Women" sounds like the Beatles could have done it, and it has that Petty wit that infuses the whole album. "Blue Sunday" is reminiscent of the mournful/hopeful "Damn the Torpedoes" days. "Joe" is arguably the best track, with a driving beat, jabs at the record industry...P>This is a timeless album, no matter which corporate radio stations refuse to play it.

Free Music Review: One of Petty & The Heartbreaker's Best
Hit: 5 Stars

I had mixed emotions when I was contemplating buying this CD. I had heard the title track, "The Last DJ," on the radio many times and liked it but I worried whether or not the rest of the CD would hold up to its standard. I also wondered whether or not Tom's message (anti-corporation, etc) would mask over Tom's signature sound. After I saw him live at Madison Square Garden earlier in December, I resolved to get the CD and since then, have not looked back. Every song is close to brilliant...more than what could be said about Echo. My personal favorite is "Have Love Will Travel"...such a beautiful song which I remember standing out at the show. Viva Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers!!

Free Music Review: Classic TP and the HBs
Hit: 5 Stars

This is Tom Petty in classic form. Maybe not as classic as the "Wildflowers" album but very close. Petty seems to get better with age and he proves it again here. There are no negatives with this album. Witty lyrics, jangling guitars, Hammond B-3 organ, Mike Campbell guitar hero leads. It's what the Heartbreakers have been doing for 25 years. It's sad that there is no radio format for great music like this. Instead we get low-quality, sound alike, Britney/Back Street/INSYNC fuzz. This is basically the the theme of this album.

Tom Petty will tour this fall and will probably sing a majority of these songs. That should tell you how these songs stack up with the classics he's produced.

Free Music Review: Tom Petty is AMAZING....
Hit: 5 Stars

Tom Petty is amazing. He is touring now with the HB and no band can touch them for perfection. This album is great. See it perfomed on the DVD with a full symphony. Tom Petty never stops pushing to do something new and different. He is so talented and after all of these years (30 this yr.) still remains true to his craft. Anyone who grew up in the 60's would feel as TP does about todays music scene, radio, etc. I feel that kids today are cheated out of knowing really great music performed by real musicians/bands. We took our 16yr. old to see TP/HB and he put all of TP's music on his ipod the next day. Rap,Britteny,Jessica Simpson,Beyonce, etc. is just a lot of noise.
