Free Music Review: With Castro, the future of blues is lookin' cool...

The thing that drew me to this CD was the name of the record label...Blind Pig Records. Finding this funny and cute (which isn't the right word but I can't think of a better one right now), I bought Right as Rain. I opened it in the car and inserted it into the CD player. Tommy sure likes them horns, which is a nice touch to the music. (The backup singers are also very cool.) Castro has a nice voice, it isn't all over the place and out of pitch like some other blues guitar/singers. Another thing I like about this album is the straight beats. This guy sure isn't afraid to wail on a straight blues beat, and they make you tap your foot, there's no stopping it.
Of course, the real talent on this record is Castro's guitar playing. He reminds me of SRV in more ways then one, but nonetheless he still has a great style of playing.
This CD is well derserving of my rare 5 star rating. Well done, Tommy!
