Free Music Notes for OnlyFree Music Review: Definitely a must for acoustic guitar lovers! Hit: 5 Stars
I listened to TE (Can't Get Enough album)once and I must say I am not impressed with "electric side" of TE. But "Only" really reveals the most beautiful side of TE. Basically I love every tunes of this album. Of course, "Monbasa", "Driveway" are the first few tunes I loved the best. The more you listen, the more you like others as well. Those fast tunes are very difficult ones but TE seems to move so effortlessly and play so interestingly. "Only" revives my long-dead interests in playing acoustic guitar! I have even bought Maton EBG808 after hearing this and it is one of best guitar. TE is so influential. My advice is - if you do like guitar music, YOU CAN'T REALLY AFFORD MISSING IT.
Free Music Review: Guitar at its best Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is a memorial to the versatility of an under-used instrument. Instead of hiding little talent and less skill behind a loud reverb, Emmanuel invites listeners to experience the guitar at its best. From gleeful "Timberlake Road" to jazzy "Biskie," from sublime "Questions" to exhilarating "Train to Dusseldorf," the master guitarist leads us on a musical epiphany. No lyrics, no bass, neither percussion nor brass are needed. The purity of these melodies and harmonies touches the soul. The spirit soars and dives with the rifts. Bottom line: Emmanuel demonstrates how much music the guitar can make -- not how much noise.
Free Music Review: Worth repeated listenings Hit: 5 Stars
I was in search of a great instrumental guitar CD and happened upon the name Tommy Emmanuel during my search; I'm sure glad I did. I wanted a CD that I would enjoy listening to as many times as I have with Masters of Acoustic Guitar and Sounds of Wood & Steel.
Listening to this CD has made me an instant Tommy fan. This CD has an excellent mixture of soothing and goosebump inducing tracks (the mark of a great CD in my book). I can't tell you how many times I've listened to track 3, Mombasa. I am quite certain I will own many more Tommy Emmanuel CDs. If you enjoy instrumental guitar, I would not hesitate to buy this one.
Free Music Review: As good as it gets. Hit: 5 Stars
I discovered Tommy Emmanuel at an outdoor concert in 2002. I had the pleasure of seeing him again at the same venue in 2003, by which time I was an enraptured fan. In my experience, Emmanuel's "Only" is as good as solo acoustic guitar gets. "Only" is an incredible tapestry of music, with heartfelt, melodic songs (all written by Emmanuel). If you appreciate good music, do yourself a favor and buy this CD. Better yet, see Emmanuel in concert and try not to become a fan. I dare you...
Free Music Review: No negatives here Hit: 5 Stars
I usually look for the low-ratings first. The 5-star ratings are often so overblown and hyped that they just can't be believed. This was my first sampling of TE's work. All the other reviewers are right on the mark. This is EXCEPTIONAL guitar work. Nice (difficult) musical compositions that are interesting and played flawlessly. The HDCD recording quality matches the musical quality. No regrets here. This truly earns a 5-star rating from me.
