Free Music Notes for Ultimate Toni BraxtonFree Music Review: Best of the early years of Toni Hit: 5 StarsLike most Greatest Hits albums, this includes almost no fillers, but also, like most Greatest Hits albums, it doesn't have all the best songs of the artist. Toni Braxton has an unique voice and her capability to sing ballads can be compared only to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, so it's good to have a CD of her best songs, 'cause, let's tell the truth, half of the songs on her CDs are usually fillers."Ultimate Toni Braxton" has songs from 4 of her albums. Her first two, the self-titled debut and "Secrets" seems to be over-represented because her latest two albums are represented by only three songs, but the problem is not that the CD includes too much of the older songs -- the problem is that it includes too few from the new ones, and while buying "Ultimate Toni Braxton" can substitute buying her first two albums, it doesn't substitute the following ones. It almost seems that Toni herself thought her first two albums are more important in her career when she chose the songs for "Ultimate". "Ultimate Toni Braxton" includes the shorter, edited versions of her hits (including her signature ballad "Un-break My Heart") and a live version of "Seven Whole Days". From her 2000 release "The Heat" it features the hit "He Wasn't Man Enough", but instead of the Diane Warren-penned ballads "Spanish Guitar" or "I'm Still Breathing" (my favorite) it includes "Just Be A Man About It", which is a mere filler even on the original album and the worst song on "Ultimate". Her hip-hop-flavored 2002 release "More Than A Woman" has certainly more good songs than only one, I think at least "Let Me Show You the Way (Out)" or "Do You Remember When" should have been a single and should have been included here, they're as good as "Hit The Freeway". There's no mention of the "Snowflakes" album here. I don't understand why are Christmas albums completely ignored on Greatest Hits albums, and in Toni's case I understand it even less 'cause Snowflakes is more a love songs album than a Christmas album. Like all Greatest Hits albums, "Ultimate" comes with some bonus songs. I think having four bonus songs is nice 'cause there are lots of albums with only one or two bonuses. "Give U My Heart" (I count it as a bonus 'cause it wasn't on any of Toni's previous albums) is a very good early 90s-style pop song and works nice as the opening song of the album. "Whatchu Need" and "The Little Things" are nice, though they wouldn't be successful on the charts, I guess. One of them is a hip--hop song, the other is a ballad. Although uptempo club remixes of ballads are usually awful, the remix of "Un-break My Heart" is surprisingly good. Toni is beautiful on the photos, I would be happier if the booklet included more photos instead of the list of the titles and writers of the songs. It doesn't even have a new cover photo, it's the same as the cover of the "Spanish Guitar" single. I don't know what else to say about this album, except that I recommend it to everyone who likes Toni Braxton or likes nice ballads. If you have only her newer albums, buy this one before you buy her first two, just to know what to expect.
Free Music Review: Toni is hot Hit: 5 StarsTHE ALBUM IS GREAT , SHE IS A GREAT SINGER, AND THIS ALBUM INCLUDE ALMOST ALL HER HITS SHE'S GREAT AND CAN GET BACK IN SHAPE AFTER HAVING A BABY BETTER THAN ANYONE I EVER SEEN GREAT ALBUM
Free Music Review: NOT A SINGLE HIT IS MISSING....BUT THE COVER!!!! Hit: 5 StarsI agree that this is a great collection, Toni's deep voice enchanted everyone!, sadly her last album was avoided by the always odd radio waves!....I love women that sing, and Toni is really gifted...."More Than A Woman" was not a bad album, but the lacked of hits was the problem...."Let Me Show You The Way Out" was a friendly radio song, that should have got promoted, if Arista paid more attention to her established artist, instead of the punk Lavigne...(for the record not only Toni's record failed, TLC, and Whitney, if that doesn't tell you bad promotion, what does?), if should have saved many careers, but any ways, Toni's at Blackground, and I'm sure she's gonna shine!!!!!, this album is an essential if you don't own any Toni album, or if you're a fan, the good thing was that the GH has the ever hard to find short version of the epic anthemic Un-break My Heart Hex Hector Remix, as for the cover I agree with everyone, putting the cover of the Spanish Guitar single was a tacky way to treat someone like Toni.
Free Music Review: An Impressive Collection of Her Biggest Hits - On 1 CD! Hit: 4 StarsBefore buying this compilation, I only had the Secrets album. I never really explored her other material till this album came out. Her debut album is a stunner I must say; and Secrets is an awesome follow-up. In Ultimate, songs like Love Shoulda Brought You Home, Breathe Again, Another Sad Love Song, Seven Whole Days, Let It Flow and He Wasn't Man Enough are the most powerful and biggest hits of hers. Like in every other greatest hits album, there are hits and misses. Songs like Spanish Guitar and How Could An Angel Break My Heart should have been included. And some of the songs in the cd (I Love Me Some Him, How Many Ways) should not be in because its just not a song that grows on you. Sounds totally wack to me. I can safely say that 90% of the songs are either produced or co-produced by Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmunds. His name is stamped everywhere on the credits. Productions by R. Kelly, Diane Warren and Rodney Jerkins adds more impact. The final remix track of Un-break My Heart is such a filler and a spoiler. It should be included in the 2nd disc that came with the package of remixes. Overall this is an awesome album that is worthy of your penny. The first track brings you way back in the early 90's till the millennium. If u are a romantic at heart or been hurt before, this cd is for you. It incorporated all the elements together to give u the ultimate - of Toni Braxton.
Free Music Review: What Happened Toni? Hit: 5 StarsToni Braxton was awesome in the 90's. Back then, she was right up there at the top of the charts with the likes of Mariah and Whitney. This collection captures her various hits quite nicely. You get all of her big top 10 hits including the #1's "Unbreak My Heart" and "You're Making Me High" as well as the #2 hit single "He Wasn't Man Enough." Then of course the two top 5 hits "You Mean the world To Me" and "Breathe Again." And the break-through #7 chart single "Another Sad Love Song." Also, thsi collection includes moderate/minor chart hits "I Don't Want To", "Just Be A Man About It","Hit the Freeway" and "How Many Ways." It's a shame that Toni doesn't pull in the sales and hit singles that she used tp. Her last album was a disappointment, but basicly got no promotion. Hopefully her next effort will do better, but until then, enjoy this!
