Free Music Review: Collection of Great Singles, But Not Ultimate Collection
Hit: 4 Stars

Believe or not she's been around for a decade and has an incredible run of songs that made it into high rotation play at many Urban, Pop, and Adult radio stations worldwide. This is an ultimate collection of Toni Braxton's most popular released singles, plus 2 new songs, and a re-mix dance club version of "Un-break My Heart".

It's great to have them all on 1 CD, but I would love to have an ultimate collection that showcases her vocal talent on many songs that weren't released as singles. It's a good addition to the CD collection if you're a radio fan, but a true fan of Toni's work knows the collection is missing several songs...

* In the Late of Night/Toni's Secret (Secrets, 1996)
* Spanish Guitar and I'm Still Breathing (The Heat, 2000)
* Rock Me, Roll Me and Selfish (More than a Woman, 2002)

Free Music Review: Departing Diva
Hit: 4 Stars

When we sometimes think of an artist, we always look at them for their voice and their souls as well. It just takes one of the right kinds of voices to do that rhythm. Toni Braxton is just one of those divas. 10 years ago, she dazzled the music industry stage with her soul-grabbing voice and sex appeal. It is just so hard to believe she is still standing today, but as a departure from Arista and LaFace. Recently, Toni Braxton announced she was leaving Arista, largely because of the lack of support she had with the label, because of her pregnancy with her second child. Toni was at this crossroads before several years ago because of a public bankruptcy. Still, her career with Arista remains as amazing as you could expect from Mrs. Keri Lewis herself, and is finally celebrated in a album of its own.

Ultimate Toni Braxton is a collection of 18 songs from her soundtrack work, and her four acclaimed records, More Than A Woman, Secrets, The Heat, and the self-titled record, Toni Braxton. There are so many great songs as well as 2 brand new songs to the mix as well. The new songs seem like a joy, as well as classics like Un-Break My Heart, Breathe Again, You're Makin' Me High, and He Wasn't Man Enough. Still, like most Greatest Hits records, there are a few faults in the process. The remix of Un-Break My Heart seems to drown out the romantic version Diane Warren wrote for Toni, and a few songs could've been issued on here like the intimate Spanish Guitar, which Diane Warren also wrote for Toni, and How Could An Angel Break My Heart from Secrets could've been featured here as well. In Fact, if you could hear one of Toni's new tracks very closely, The Little Things, you hear Toni sampling herself. The melody actually is R.Kelly, whom created I Don't Want To, being remade in this new song he wrote for Toni Here.

Whatever is in the future for Toni Braxton, her legacy has already been conjured up. No matter what happens here, the voice she has recorded will continue to inspire so many actresses and vocalists. I just keep hoping that people will still continue to enjoy Toni Braxton's music for a very, very long time. That, isn't a sad love song to sing about.

Free Music Review: really good collection
Hit: 4 Stars

Toni Braxton had a Heck of a Run for a while.hard to Believe it's been 10 years since Her Debut Album&11 Years since She first did a Solo Cut or a Duet."Give you my Heart" with Babyface. She started out on the Anita Baker tip but then went into other areas with Hit&Miss Results.when hearing these Songs again it doesn't seem that long ago.She is a Talented Artist but I still feel hasn't really gotten challenged to Her Full Musical Depths yet&Hopefully She will get that chance to shine in the future but I just don't know.but nevertheless this is a Good COllection&reminds you of what Made Toni Braxton the Artist that She Became.

Free Music Review: Finest Recorded Moments From One Of The Finest Pop Vocalists
Hit: 4 Stars

Over the past 10 years, Toni Braxton has released four proper studio albums, which have each been mixed bags in terms of both genre and quality. For the most part, Ultimate Toni Braxton cuts the filler and presents a decades-worth of pop/r&b hits by one of the most recognizable voices in recent music history.

"Another Sad Love Song", "Un-Break My Heart". "Breathe Again", "He Wasn't Man Enough", "You're Makin' Me High" and "You Mean The World To Me" are all radio staples worth revisiting, and several of the songs found here, including "Let It Flow" and "Love Shoulda Brought You Home", have enhanced the films in which they were originally featured. ('Waiting To Exhale' and 'Boomerang', respectively)

As a perk, the versions of songs on Ultimate are the versions heard every 30 minutes on the radio back in the 90's. It's often disappointing to pick up an artists CD, only to realize there are an additional two minutes of the hit single(s) that you don't (and don't care to) know.

This is the only Toni Braxton release to contain her debut single, a collaboration with Babyface (not so much a duet...there's more Toni than Kenny) from the 'Boomerang' movie soundtrack called "Give U My Heart".

In addition, there are two new recordings. The fun and essential Rodney Jerkins production "Whatchu Need", is easily Toni's best song since 2000's "He Wasn't Man Enough", while "The Little Things" is a yawn-fest R. Kelly rehash of "I Don't Want To", the song he penned for her in 1996, already included on this CD.

The grand finale is a previously unreleased radio cut of the Hex Hector remix for "Un-Break My Heart".

More effort could have been put into the sleeve art, but Ultimate Toni Braxton is a solid collection worthy of a place in any pop music lovers collection.
