Free Music Review: Better to buy the individual titles

This is a 2 CD set. CD 1 is a "best of", and CD 2 is her third release, "The woman's Boat." I had the first album (Union) and I loved it. I like "best of" collections and I like hard-to-find imports, so I bought it. Mistake. Mistake because The Woman's Boat is too hard to listen to. I could have bought the second album (House Of Hope) and saved $20. As a "best of", the first CD is a good selection of her better songs. I discoved the song House Of Hope, which is also on the Thelma & Louise soundtrack. Even though its been years since I saw that movie, I remember hearing a tasty Toni Childs song in the soundtrack. House of Hope is it, and its one of her best songs. This collection also contains a great cover of the Jimmy Cliff clasic, Many Rivers to Cross. This song is a treat, but not sure if its worth buying this set for. If you are like me and you like Toni, buy the first two albums. Don't buy The Woman's Boat unless you're a Toni Childs fanatic AND a rabid woman's libber. And don't buy this collection. The liner notes are marginal, typical.
