He starts well,immaculate phrasing ect,then he like all performers gets wired up to the audience,gets excited,this in turn makes him sing faster,excellent for most artists it gives there delievery that extra edge,"LETHAL" as far as he is concerned.why? becauce his trademark,or that special magic he has whatever it is,of making you believe every word,is only achieved with snails pace time! there are musicians out there who will tell you,that he had them play slower time again than they taught possible."THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THAT WORKS FOR ME GUYS ".Only at this snails pace can he work his special magic otherwise its lost.Free Music Review: BENNETT at his BEST

This 2CD set gives us the complete concert, unabridged and wonderful, rather than the choppy edited lps. Even though it took over 30 years for this material to see the light of day, it was worth the wait. The original LPs were outstanding; this is HEAVEN! "Smile", "Without a Song" and MANY others, which are Bennett standards, are finally here for all to enjoy. They must have picked him up off the floor that night, as his energy is boundless, his musicianship tremendous, as is his personality. LIVE albums are always the true test of ANY artist, no matter what the genre. It's a joy to hear a sublime singer, in an complete concert, without overdubbs, studio "help", and with great remastered sound. i got this set early last year&listened to it alot.the Quality in Tony Bennetts voice is incredible.hearing him bring out I Left My Heart In San Francisco is a real treat.he sounds even better today.but this concert showcases one of Musics Greatest Vocalists ever.Free Music Review: Tony in his prime ... great concert!

1962 was a great time for Tony Bennett. He is having a ball during the show, and having the whole concert on the album makes for a perfect evening listen. 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco' is introduced as a new popular song (! )Columbia's recording is first-rate. The good news is that the richness of 1960s Bennett that comes through on the studio albums is preserved in this live recording. 'Without a Song' is momentarily interrrupted by an audience request, handled gracefully by the singer, but this is nitpicking. I was glad to see the previously unreleased tracks restored, including the first tracks on the second CD. Taking a Chance on Love, Chicago and Smile are too classic to omit.

It took more than 30 years for the complete show to see release but it's been worth the wait. A great set brimming with classics from the American songbook,excellent pacing,all in all I wish I could've been there, but with the disc I can.Standouts for me include "All The Things You Are"(my favorite of all the versions I've heard)and a gorgeous rendition of "My Ship" which incredibly sees it's first release here.GET THIS DISC !
