The late,legendary Frank Sinatra did it,Elton John did it and now Tony Bennett does it. Here is a great collection of duets that even senior citizen fans will love(those who were fans of Bennett since his career began in 1952). Country fans will love the track with the Dixie Chicks,but it's not country style. The one with Billy Joel is nice,very similar to Joel's self-penned recording of BABY GRAND with the late Ray Charles. Joel's recording of Leonard Cohen's LIGHT AS THE BREEZE has a similar style also. There are other great songs featuring the moral support of EJ,Sir Paul McCartney,George Michael,James Taylor and others. The "duet for one" is a re-recording of Bennett's 1962 hit I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANSISCO. Another reviewer mentioned that the track didn't need any human accompaniment. "Duets: An American Classic" is exceptional. Fans of both Tony Bennett and those who join him for big-band arrangements of his greatest hits will find this album a constant companion. Bennett brings together some of today's biggest recording stars for a celebration of his 80th birthday with all rising to the occasion. Bennett, always the consummate professional, can still croon with the best of them.
"Duets" includes many of my favorites - Lullaby of Broadway, If I Ruled the World, Are You Having Any Fun? The Best is Yet to Come - in collaboration with many artists I enjoy - James Taylor, Billy Joel, Diana Krall, Sting, and Michael Buble.
For those who like the big band sound and/or Tony Bennett will find the "Duets" collection one of the best of its kind.

This is a fantastic album . All the duets are wonderful not a bad one in the bunch(except I could have lived without the Dixie Chicks) Suprizing ones to me were Elvis Costello and Tim Mcgraw. All the rest were great. I especially liked the ones with Paul McCartney, Bono, Michael Buble, John Legend and Sting. Of course I'd like the men.The ones with Diane Krall, K.D.Lang and Barbra are wonderful as well. No 1. You have to like standards. 2. You have to like Tony Bennett in order to enjoy this album but it does not disappoint if you do.I especially loved Boulevard Of Broken Dreams with Sting it was so sultry and sexy. If you like this genre you like this album. I do also have a penchant for Michael Buble he is so so good.Free Music Review: I'm gonna wear this one out

What a great disc! Not only wonderful Tony, but some other great singers, as well. I listen to it in my car and then bring it in at home so I can listen some more. I fell in love with Tony Bennett in 1953 - even wrote him love letters. I was 13 and was thrilled when I received a signed glossy 8x10 photo from him. I belonged to his fan club. His "Rags to Riches" was on the radio a lot, and I had a little 45 player in my room to spin his records on. What a thrill to fall in love with him all over again in my old age! This album is a keeper. My favorite is his duet with Stevie Wonder, whose timing and sound are excellent. I wish there was a whole album of them together. Same with Diana Krall. Buy it. I bought this CD only because of the Dixie Chicks (huge Dixie Chicks fan) but I love the whole CD. I love how the Chicks can sing so many different ranges. I hardly regonized Tim McGraw's voice. I am so glad I bought this album. What a way to introduce people to the music of Tony Bennett. I can't believe he is 80 because he does not look it that's for sure! He has a great voice and I love every song on this CD even the duets with artists I don't normally like. A good album for a lazy afternoon and every afternoon! 28 years old and I am now a brand new Tony Bennett fan-awesome CD What a genuis idea this album was. VERY GOOD
