Let's face it, if you've been alive the past 40 years or so, these songs echo in your mind. And if you're lucky, they provided in part, the soundtrack of your life. That you have the added bonus of such a talented lineup of contemporary singers singing in concert with Tony Bennett brings an even more familiar element.
I should add that it is also a soul-satisfying counterpoint to the usual -and very often loud - noise this classic rock fanatic usually listens to.

Tony Bennett began singing for Columbia records in 1951 - 'Because Of You' was his first hit. And 55 years later, he sings it again with kd lang. He's had a long and varied career with many up's and down's. This duets album is truly magnificent. We have the likes of Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Elton John and many others including Tim McGraw. The songs are timeless. Many have been done by Tony before and even had duets with other singers on some of these tunes. I believe the highlight is his solo version of 'I Left My Heart In San Francisco' with simply piano accompaniment. I have loved Tony Bennett since I discovered recorded music and this CD of duets with various stars is a wonderful collection and one that must be shared with a friend. I purchased two CDs and just heard from my friend yesterday. He was listening to the CD while traveling and we both love everything about it. He can blend his voice with the best and the ballads have a new sound but are still the old familiar Bennett ballads we have loved for so many years. It is a relaxing, feel-good collection of music from one of the best artists of our time.Free Music Review: Buy the CD/DVD version

Each track of this album is unique and beautifully performed & orchestrated. The songs & artists are a mix of different types of music & each artist's familiar style works perfectly with Tony's interpretation. I recommend the cd/dvd package, and that the buyer play the dvd first, and later, make time to sit and listen to the album in its entirety (I listened with headphones, and was carried away). The tracks are exciting and at times, very moving. Another jewel in Tony's crown - what will become a classic album, along with THE ART OF ROMANCE.Free Music Review: KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING

Such a variety of duet talents that it's hard to pick a favorite. I'd like to see a second Duet cd released (before Tony turns 81?!! I especially enjoyed the beautiful voice of k.d.lang in "Because of You", and this had me thinking she would make a great classic album? Juanes's duet, "The Shadow of Your Smile" was beautiful...all in all, you got a taste of country, jazz, love songs and it seemed they had a good time making this CD.
Great orchestra, great singers, great duets....I highly recommend this "classic".
