Free Music Review: Now whether on the strip, or in the bar...
Hit: 5 Stars

Too's 10th album was supposed to be his last, so it seemed that he wanted to stretch out his style - which yields inconsistent results. Granted, it's still Too $hort, so the subject matter remains the same as it was since the early 80's. This seems to have been his last album where his choice of guest appearances was contingent on quality over bankability. Even Rappin' For-tay makes an appearance on "Never Talk Down". MC Breed, Eric Sermon, et al come correct. Shorty B's bass lines are funky and display excellent use of negative space, particularly on the album's strongest track - "F*** My Car". Other strong moments are the inspiring title track and the diva chorus to "Pimp Me". "Nasty Rhymes" has a casual, breezy feel and the album ends on a freaky Parliamentary note with "I've been watching you"
Unfortunately, the album is littered with weak spots. There's the confusing "So Whatcha Saying", where Too laconically fires back at his detractors. "Baby Dee" is wack filler.
The good outweighs the bad though, and Album Number Ten is worth the money. The sun will rise, the sun will set, and Too $hort will put out an album every year or so. For that we can all be thankful.

Free Music Review: last album...? yes, last before the game got switched

if you dont have this album after d*mn near 10 years in release then DONT BUY IT. your just bored. minnesota loves TOO $HORT...all the the way to album #10 getting it. i dont wanna hate, but being honest about it, this is the last credible album from short dogg. he claims to have retired after it, but came back with "cant stay away" and starting using mainstream guest spots and not so funky beats. ill always be a fan but nowadays his albums and songs are real hit and miss. ps~ bring back goldy, fm blue, rappin ron, mahly mall, pee wee, baby d and the rest of the DANGEROUS CREW....?
