Free Music Notes for Gettin It (Album Number 10)Free Music Review: too $hort! Hit: 4 Stars
too $hort just doesent stop.on his tenth album he brings the same theme from his previous albums:hustling, money, and bithces.if youre a hardcore too $hort fan then get it.it has some good songs like "getting it","bad ways","buy you some",and "never talk down" which features his fellow player, rapping 4-tay.like too $hort says,"life is too $hort",so get this album.
Free Music Review: Pretty Solid Hit: 4 Stars
I'd say from all of his pre-retirement albums this is about #5. I'd def. go with the pre '96 albums from Short Dog as he is the representation of the old school funk. So get this album it is still pretty dope
Free Music Review: Album "#10" maybe my least favorite of his Hit: 3 Stars
16 months after his last album (my 2nd favorite of his) $hort is back with his last album before "retirement". Gladly he came out as of the 11 $hort albums I own this may be my least favorite and it be a shame if he retired after this. With 13 songs, none are near classic amterial, 1 I skip, 6 are ok and the rest are good, not great. Guests are on all but 3 songs, and $hort ain't even on 2 of them!! Production isn't near as funky as his early 1990's and 1980's stuff that made us all love him, but it is still decent, just not GREAT like his earlier releases. Shorty B does 5 songs, Colin Wolfe does 3, Ant Banks does 2 and Spearhead X, MC Breed and LA Dre all do 1 song. A good album for his fans to have but far from the man's best work.
#1 - 8 (f/ George Clinton & P-Funk)
#2 - 8.5 (about surviving in the game)
#3 - 8.5 (a nice dirty one)
#4 - 7.5 (f/ Murda One, Stud and Joe Rizs)
#5 - 8 (f/ MC Breed -- about his pimp ride -- nice beat)
#6 - 7.5 (about trying to take his Biaaaatch)
#7 - 6.5 (f/ Erick Sermon, MC Breed, Kool Ace)
#8 - 6 (f/ Goldy & Kool Ace --a bout pimpin')
#9 - 7 (Baby D -- no $hort -- nice beat)
#10 - 8 (f/ Wendie Rice -- about his dirty lyrics)
#11 - 9 (f/ Rappin 4-Tay & MC Breed -- tight beat -- also on 4-Tay "Off Parole" album)
#12 - 7.5 (dirty song -- f/ Reel Tight)
#14 - 2.5 (f/ George Clinton, About Face and Gary Shider -- no $hort)

Free Music Review: Weak but not worthless Hit: 3 Stars
After 3 straight out consistantly funky albums, Gettin It is the start of the steep downhill spiral of Short Dog. All hes post retirement releases since are complete crap, replacing funk for commercial spastic beats. However there are some awesome grooves on this album but I think you could cut it down to about 6 tracks. The first 3 hit the spot. The opener is a nice placid jam with a good melodic hook that saves it from becoming a bit to monotonous. Track 2 and 3 are typically groove orientated Ant Banks jams that are worth every cent. Track 4 stinks before the smooth **** my car. There are a couple of so so tracks till the albums end there after but in general your not missing to much if you switch the CD off after track 5. This release was a tired production and after hearing the absolute garbage after hes retirement, he should have stayed there
Free Music Review: THIS CD IS NOTHING SPECIAL. Hit: 3 Stars
There are maybe 3 songs which really stand out and the rest are just filler material. This is the point where too short really begins to drop off.Do not buy this album and get some of his earlier work instead.
