Free Music Notes for Opiate

Free Music Review: Back when tool was a rock band, not a concept.
Hit: 5 Stars

Opiate is awesome... It's what hard rock can, and should be. Opiate is power, it's emotion, it's freedom, and it's also just a lot of fun. This stuff just begs to be moved to, in fact it is not worth listening to without expending the same kind of energy and emotion, that it gives out. This CD gives us a *real* reason to head bang, to sing along, to let our eyes roll back into our heads and forget that there is a world outside. Opiate is true balls out rock and roll, and anyone that knows rock, knows how rare, and precious such a thing is. Sure, some of the songs are a little rough around the edges, but even then, they are played with such amazing energy, that one can't help but love them. I would recommend this EP to any fan of rock; it will reminds you of why you listen to this stuff in the first place.

Free Music Review: Six Songs...
Hit: 5 Stars

Yes, this CD only has six songs, and not all of them are even that good. There are two spectacular songs here, though, and the others are just okay. The others could be great, though, if only the lyrics were as pointless and repetative as they are.

Anyway, the best songs are the first and the last, "Sweat" and "Opiate." The second and third songs have really cool beginnings with all the eerie noises and drum intros, but from then on it's downhill. The other songs, which are live, are pretty funny because they show how Tool started out as a band nobody's heard of.

If you're a fan of Tool you probably already have it. If you've just heard a couple Tool songs but don't have any of their CDs I suggest you get Aenima, which is, in my opinion, their best.

Free Music Review: an awesome tool album... well not really an album...
Hit: 5 Stars

This is Tool's Opiate, and it is indeed their first recorded piece of music, and man is it good. When I first got this album during the summer, I listened to only it, and mainly because I think its extremely kick ass. Every song is good in their own way, and this is a much more agressive side of tool that most people arent used to at all. So here's a run down of the tracks.

Sweat- good song, 5/5.
Hush- another good song, I like maynards screams in this one... 5/5.
Part of me- one of my favorites on the EP... 6/5.
Cold and Ugly- these two songs... cold and ugly and jerk off want to make me see tool incredibly bad, then again... this was a while ago. These two songs are being rated together, 10/10.
Opiate- a cool song, i love the chorus, 6/5.

Free Music Review: A Legend has started...
Hit: 5 Stars

Opiate wasn't popular when the cd first came out but alot of people answered. Tool had started in the year 92' with only 6 songs to start out with. (Not enough songs but good enough to listen to) All six songs have their own Alternative-Rock level. "Sweat" is a great song for their type of introduction to the album. "Hush, and Part of Me", are short but each song has great guitar riffs and great verses. "Cold & Ugly and Jerk-off", are performed live (Probably at some club somewhere). Both songs have fast paced solos that would make every rock song come alive. And the last song "Opiate" has bound to become a classic in this album. Opiate has been a test to see what Tool can really do to their music, and how they will evolve...

Free Music Review: Tool...who else?
Hit: 5 Stars

Forget about this album being short..these songs make up for the length, these are Tool's shortest songs to date, though I actually love their lengthy ones the best, these songs are right up there with all of there with Tool's other classic songs, in my opinion I consider alot of these songs their classics. Songs on this album show Tool's earlier and harder music they wrote back then, though they matured later on (for the better I think). But Maynard's lyrics are were still supereb at the start (and sometimes funny on this one)...not as good as Aenima's or Undertow's, but these lyrics are a little more straight forward. Anyway if you call yourself Tool fan you must have this album. All in all an underated Tool album that has earned respect...so RESPECT IT..haha
