This classic soundtrack is one of the best. It has all of the original artist songs from the movie which bring the scenes instantly back inside your head. It didn't used to have the Great balls of Fire song sung by Anthony Edwards (Goose) or the one Tom Cruise sung to Kelly McGillis. Those songs would being included now have made this an immortal album. This fast songs album is a great one to have when driving long distances on empty roads as it makes your journey fly by. The big songs Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins and Berlin's sensational love song Take My Breath Away can be found on many 80's compilation albums but really flow when put together with the other songs on this album.
All the songs on this one are great, you don't need to memory any of them out like on most soundtracks. The lyrics are also included on the cover insert for all of the songs if you like singing along.

One of the all time great movies with music, cinematography (those fighter shots!), and love story tied together. One of Jerry Bruckheimer's orignial efforts, he combines the effors of Giorgio Moroder with several of rock's greatest stars.
Also, consider the star power of the movie and the stars that came from this film. Tom Cruise was sent on his way. Meg Ryan, her first big film. Tim Robbins, Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer all went on to great film careers.
The mixture of the music, actors and story works.
The new releases are a real bonus, Great Balls of Fire, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay and who could forget Cruise's rendetion of You Lost that Lovin Feelin by the Righteous Brothers. Thats right folks it was not in the original soundtrack.
Too bad we had to wait this long.

Probably one of the very few audio CDs that I own that I can listen to all the way through and NOT have to skip tracks because I find the song distasteful or boring. The first song "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins gets you going, and in the mood of the movie, and by the time you get to the end with "Top Gun Anthem" by Steve Stevens and Harold Faltermeyer, you've pretty much got an idea of what the movie is about, and what emotions you are going to feel. Every song in this soundtrack pretty much mirrors the movie. A must have for anyone who owns Top Gun, and loves it as much as I do, even if you don't like Tom Cruise, the movie is still a classic to this day, and this soundtrack certainly proves it.Free Music Review: A gotta Have for your CD Library!

Great CD! Lot's of spunky `80's songs, from a great movie. Great for cruising in a convertible with the top down, or bopping around the house on the weekend.We got the CD for my daughter, Rebecca, who is severely handicapped (cerebral palsy). She's 6 and has had a crush on Tom Cruise for over a year now! She watches the video during her hyperbaric oxygen therapies and still gets excited about Tom, as well as the action scenes. (Read Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy - Dr.'s Neubauer and Walker).
And, she bops around in the car with the CD on the way home from therapies.

Im suprised that you cannot get the Top Gun soundtrack music videos on VHS or DVD. Like many people who love the movie and the music, I would have no hesitation in purchasing it. I havent seen the video clip for "Danger Zone" since 1988 when it was shown on MTV back to back with "Dreams" by Van Halen. In fact, I think the music videos would be a great inclusion on a special edition DVD of the Top Gun Movie.
