I've learned not to have "expectations" when i purchase a Tori Amos album. i love her work- I really do- but whenever you delve into her music with expectations, she usually throws you for a loop. I was prepared to dislike most of this album, but since i'm a teeny bit addicted to her music, I bought it anyway. And i'm glad i did. I was afraid because the first time I heard Big Wheel I hated it. I didn't get it because it was so different from her 90's work (which was the only stuff I'd heard at the time). However, now that I have it, I'm kind of fond of it. I would never compare it to her 90's work. It is a different era, as she said and I respect that. I like it all and love a third of it. It's more of a riding-in-the-car- kinda CD. Nice, catchy. For me, it's the concept that really sold it. I think any fan should have it, but i'd be afraid of introducig perspective fans to this first. Piano-playing musical genius Tori Amos has fascinated millions with her thought-provoking material ever since her debut album Little Earthquakes hit the shelves in 1992. Having been in the music industry for over fifteen years, the diva has continued to reinvent herself with every single album. The trend continues with her latest venture, American Doll Posse. Sick of how women sit idly by as the United States loses all integrity due to unnecessary warfare, Amos has taken it upon herself to create five separate personae with different points of view to make us politically, emotionally, and socially aware. First, there is Pip: the warrior woman with a penchant for rubber that strives to prove that not all darkness is truly evil. Second, there is Clyde: the creative soul that views everything as a work of art. Third, there is Santa: the sensual beauty that wishes for everyone to see the beauty within themselves. Fourth, there is Isabel: the bisexual photographer that observes the political turmoil of the world. Lastly, there is Tori: the mother of all of the dolls. Musically, American Doll Posse is spot on. It is undoubtedly Amos's most entertaining record since the new millennium. From the dirty rock of "Body And Soul" to the insatiable pop of "Secret Spell," it seems that Amos has the entire board covered. She delves into fun honky-tonk in "Big Wheel," morose classical in "Girl Disappearing," and 80's style heavy rock in "Teenage Hustling." Lyrically, Amos proves to be on top of the game once again with the mythical romanticism of "Dragon" to the haunting inner struggles of "Smokey Joe." As a whole, this album is a masterpiece that can appeal to a wide spectrum of people. It is everything a good album should be: entertaining, beautiful, and timeless.Free Music Review: Why go to the psychologist when you can write about it ?

American Doll Posse is the most judgemental, troubled, conceptual and angry album Tori Amos have ever recorded, every song express the ideas of a number of alter egos coming out of Toris mind as multiple personalities.
Tori fights against her demons and she does in a terrific way in this release, im pretty sure she speaks for many of us in one or more of the tracks included in this album and is for this reason that Amos have becoming a very personal a very intimate artist in the soundtrack of the lives of many people ("Toriphiles")

Tori Amos it my favorite Artist of all time. This is a well done album worth owning.
