Free Music Review: Oh my god it's so different....

I bought Choirgirl Hotel on a hunch at a local cd store. I did not know Tori Amos as a performer at all then. It was a classic right away. The songs haunted me with their melodies, chasing me and casting me to dreams. The whole of her other cds followed, receiving a special place next to my cd player. Amos is not the average performer. She is a fabulous artist and her songs are just spell-binding. When I clicked on the song "Jackie's Strength" to preview what I was buying I noticed a distinctly different sound. It wasn't Tori at all. But that fact made it more Tori than anything. It has the element of surprise. It's her, all right. But the dance beat in the back ground gives the haunting spell of the song a delicious twist, teasing, taunting, pulling you closer in a bewitching embrace. I loved it at once. Although the cd was to be a present for my sister, I ordered an extra copy to keep for myself. These are the little twists that can make the same song come alive in a distinctly different divine avatar.Free Music Review: Great variations on the Tori theme

I love the album version of "Jackie's Strength," but make no mistake, this single is not just more of the same thing. These versions are filled with techno mixes and dubs, layering Tori's voice and lyrics with several different rhythmic themes. One or two of the mixes are fairly close to the original, but some of the others introduce a whole new layer of sound to the song which isn't present in the album version (for instance, track #2 "Father Lucifer.") A wonderful example of the musical fusion created when you mix Tori's voice and style with the best that techno has to offer.

Being a pretty big fan of Tori, I was totally excited to get this CD single of "Jackie's Strength." Although I wish it had the original album cut, I dealt with it.I always request this video/song at a club in Chicago, and having it to own makes me all that much happier. This CD encompasses a bit of what our society has come to, but also maintains Tori Amos' sense of style, origniality and meaning. This CD ROCKS!

Just got this a few days ago, and I must say that the remixes take the song 'Jackie's Strength' to a new anthemic level. A must have for fans of good club music. The addition of the Silkscreen remixes of 'Father Lucifer' make this CD something to treasure. That song now sounds hip, dreamy and lucid! Here's hoping that 'Jackie's Strength' makes it to Number #1 in the club charts.Free Music Review: You go girl!

Tori again does rather well. I really enjoy the wedding cake remix of 'Jackie's Strenght', but the remix of 'Father Lucifer' is not quite her best. I feel that she deserves five stars though. Great single! I would recomend that you buy it if you are really into TORI as I am. I am a 'Toriphile'. This single only slightly fails to impress me! ITS GREAT!!!!
