Free Music Review: Only Trace

Only Trace could take this group of songs and make you feel every word and note of them from the first guitar lick of "Sweet" to the final chords of "Muddy Water". I've heard plenty of singers over the years that could pull off the fun songs, like "Sweet" or "Hillbilly Rich" or the ballads like "Let's Do That Again" or "I Can't Outrun You" (Artists like Big & Rich, Chris Cagle, Tim McGraw come to mind). But I don't think there is anyone out there that could take the extremes that Trace takes on (and everything in between) and make it so believable. Usually there's a track or two (depends on the artist) that I just don't think fit either the artist or the group of songs that have been selected for the disc. I have yet to hear anything from Trace that isn't believable, and his discs cover such a wide range of sounds and topics that it's rare to find a song that doesn't fit. And if you don't at least listen to "'Til The Last Shot's Fired", you are missing out on one of the best songs that Trace has ever recorded!Free Music Review: 10+++++

I have nearly all Trace's cd's and I love them all but IMO this is his absolute stand out best. Usually there are only a few tracks on an album which get cranked up on your stereo (if you are very lucky it might be more), but very rarely there comes an album where each and every song gets cranked up. This album does it. This would be my all time favourite CD of his. In this album he gets to use that marvellously rich voice as an instrument rather than just flat out singing and entertaining. Very very rich notes in all of the ballads and in the more upbeat songs he plays with his voice to perfection,. If I had to choose a top 3 from this album they would have to be All I ask for anymore, Til the last shot's fired (gives me goosebumps), Let's do that again, and Marry for money.... oh and I can't outrun you. Whoops thats 5 but I just can't pick any closer.
An amazing album which is very rarely off my stereo. Thanks Trace and God bless you and yours.

This album does an amazing job of showcasing Trace's versatility. He can sing it all from "funkabilly" to gospel, from borderline hip-hop to ballads, with the same believability! I love all the music on the album but, hands down, my favorite is "Can't Outrun You". I can never just listen to it once. It's like he reaches right down into my soul. With nothing but the piano and a little cello as accompaniment, it all comes down to Trace's vocal skills and they are incredible. On the surface, it seems a fairly simple song but there is a LOT going on in there. The nuance, the rhythms, the depth of feeling! Awesome song! It's even more moving than Arlington (and that's not easy!) On the fun side, I love "Marry for Money", "Hillbilly Rich", and "Only Haulin' One Thing". And, of course, there's "Muddy Water". Fell for that the first time I heard it. All told, this album is worth more than the money. I'll be a Trace Adkins fan for life!Free Music Review: Love this CD

I saw Trace in concert and he played a few of his new songs and I knew I had to have it. I love it.. I have listened to it over and over. It isn't all slow songs nor is it all upbeat.. I think its a wonderful blend of ballads and great songs to sing along with. My absolute favorite is Muddy Water... it touches my faith and I just can't listen to it enough. It's not the only touching song though... I like when Trace shows his vulnerable side. I totally recommend this !

Trace has several on here that should be singles. There's something for everyone on this CD. I went back and purchased a second one for my truck so the other could stay in my home. 'I Can't Out Run You" with just his voice is just amazing and I'd love to see it as a single. Trace really delivers on the entire CD. I'm a gal who hauls horses from state to state and this CD will keep you going! A must for anyone who loves good country music!
