Free Music Review: AMAZING!!! Hit: 5 StarsI'm 13, and yesterday my dad was looking through his record collection for music I would like. He pulled out this CD, and set the needle down. It was beautiful. When her voice goes down for "whisper" in "Talkin about a revolution" I was hooked. This in an absolutely beautiful album, even better if you can get it on record. I can't say enough, you just need to hear it.
Free Music Review: This is a genuine work of a genius Hit: 5 StarsI cannot put this album in higher regard. This is one of the greatest records of all time. Chapman enters issues such as Racial Tension, Poverty, Domestic Violence, Love with such beauty. This is emotive music, Beautiful acoustic guitaring combined with a real 80's style faint drumming in usually the chorus. This album is worth the money it sets you back. They don't make them like this anymore. No matter how many times those Boyzone f**kwits remake "baby can i hold you", they will always slaughter it. Tracey you are a genius.
Free Music Review: Personal Opinion of a Della Hit: 5 StarsOne of Della's FAVORITE songs! Tracy Chapman is black and pretty and has an honest voice. She knows hard times and sings about peace and ending war, and about spirituality and other such topics of interest to Della. Della has her "Telling Stories" Album and it has Tracy Chapman's face on it with her eyes closed on the front of it... and Della has this trick where she's like (to an unsuspecting normally person) "Hey, you know I bought this album thinking oh, well i got one Tracy on the cover. That's good... but then... I opened it up *WAHMP she opens it up quickly and BOOM there is Tracy with her eyes open* and I got a BONUS Tracy for free!!!!! That's TWO times the Tracy for the price of one Tracy. Wouldn't you say Tracy? *she asks the album, Tracy looks back smiling as if to say yes*" Anyways.. that's my Tracy album CD trick. Sometimes I sat her CD cover up with her picture smiling at me and we talked a lot when I was depressed, cause I'm a real nutter butter weird sort like that... but Tracy, she's an old friend of mine. (or her spirit is rather) Her song played on the perfect day for me and my lover. We had a fast car.... like that day when the California sun kissed light down on us both, my most cherished lover of all, in the car with Tracy Chapman playing, the sun never shone so bright and the air never was so fresh and sweet.... he looked so good, and he felt even better when I touched his hand... like a dream I never wanted to wake up from. you know how some days are so beautiful and perfect you realize you're the happiest you'll ever be in that moment? that the sun couldn't be warmer or gentler, that a kiss couldn't be any better than that if you tried to replicate it forever? That was how that day with my love was. With tracy Chapman playing on the radio.... and that's part of why I love Tracy. Miss Chapman's music has always occured at beautiful and happy times in my life and so she is an old friend... and I guess if I could embody "joy" into a person she'd have Tracy's friendly face and be strumming a guitar and singing in an honest voice about fast cars and devotion. ^_^ ya know? ~~~ Della, speaking of herself in third person oddly
Free Music Review: Truly Exceptional Hit: 5 StarsGreat art grows in stature with time. So it is with this. These songs are so thoroughly profound and so emotionally resonant as to almost defy description. But they don't defy meaning...and that's what makes them such great folk music. Their meaning is all too evident and once again reinforce the idea that keen human observation and adherence to truth are what great art are all about. Like so many others I return to this music time and time again for all sorts of reasons. Thank God for Tracy Chapman.
