Free Music Notes for Where You LiveFree Music Review: 4-1/2 stars -- Where great music resides Hit: 4 StarsI'll admit it; I like Tracy Chapman, but I'm one of those people that if anyone ever asked me what songs she made, I'd probably just mention "Give Me One Reason" and "Fast Car". I didn't know until recently that she released an album last year, and I REALLY didn't know that this album took four years to make, but sometimes I guess that's what it takes to produce great work like Where You Live.
I really can't pick a favorite song on here, so I'll just point out some highlights that come to mind. "America" is your necessary political song but with a new twist, but even better than that is "Never Yours", where the lyrics don't look like much on paper but sound good when she sings them. The same goes for "Love's Proof".
Actually, now that I think about it, maybe "Don't Dwell" would be my favorite. But "3,000 Miles" is great too (although I've never heard anyone say the word "away" with the long "a" sound). Anyway, Where You Live is definitely an album that makes a great addition to Tracy's long career, and it helps solidify her as one of the only (if not THE only) great black female rock singers out there.

Free Music Review: Amazying on all counts Hit: 5 StarsTracy does it again the albulm come crashing in with "change" and never lets up with raw energy and truth. She has got to be one of the most underated and underplayed songwritres and poets creating art today.
Free Music Review: Truly Wonderful Hit: 5 StarsI must say that "Never Yours" is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and I highly recomend this Cd to anyone who likes acoustic guitar, inspirational lyrics, and great vocals. I became a Tracy Chapman fan as a young boy and to this day I still enjoy hearing her songs.
Free Music Review: What a rare treat! Hit: 4 StarsI wanted to post a review on this site to tell everyone that I recently attended Ms. Chapman's Edinburgh concert on 6th November which was part of her world tour. I've always had the greatest respect for her music and own most of her albums. Her "Debut" and "Matters of the Heart" albums have always been my favourites. She spoke to the audience on several occasions and came across as a shy, lovely and warm person. She sang all her most famous songs and many of the less well-known, yet equally powerful numbers from all of her albums. I can't begin to describe how this live concert confirmed in my mind just what a great gift to music her art is. It was truly affecting how she clasped her hands together in front of her while singing "Behind the Wall" and later performed "The Promise". It was all so incredibly moving. Of course, she sang about 4 or 5 numbers from her new album "Where You Live". She appeared so dramatic standing between two large drums (which she played), with her guitar around her shoulders while singing "America". It forcibly struck me how powerfully her songs communicated in the context of a live concert when perhaps certain of her more abstract songs are a little difficult to understand in the more intimate setting of one's own room or on a discman. I enjoyed this new album. It continues her tradition of great song-writing, offering thought-provoking, moving, conscience music. Treasure her America! She's that rare breed of an enduring Artist whose music is more relevant than ever in a somewhat jaded world.
Free Music Review: Astounding Studio Album Hit: 5 StarsThis is a classic - every track crafted beautifully - especially the percussion. Really beautifully mastered. The lyrics are wonderful - a rich and marvellous piece of magic. Buy it!
