Free Music Notes for Where You LiveFree Music Review: VERY PLEASED TRACY FAN Hit: 5 StarsAs always Tracy's performance on all the songs is outstanding. Love her voice. I sort of disagree with the others on 3000 miles and America. 3000 Miles has an enchanting melody, but the lyrics are hard to listen to. She made me sad on that one. Thoughful but sad. America is just plain cool. You tell 'em Tracy. It rocks if you like political statements. My favorite is Taken. Again the lyrics and the melody are just right. This song has stuck in my mind all day. Makes me feel good and that's what I listen to music for.
Free Music Review: As good as always Hit: 5 StarsThis album highlights the pure talent of Tracy Chapman. Her music, lyrics, and performace are all genuine and elegant. The disc is nothing new, just Tracy Chapman doing what she does best.
Free Music Review: Live It Up Hit: 4 StarsTracey Chapman is one of the more underrated performers of the last twenty years. Every two or three years she releases an album filled with quality songs. Where You Live is no exception to this rule. The album is an appealing mixture of socially aware and deep lyrics set to an easy flowing mid-tempo beat. Ms. Chapman has one of the warmest voices in music and she employs it to perfection on tracks like "Never Yours", "3,000 Miles", "Before Easter" and the highlight track "Talk To You". "America" is another classic political charged song from Ms. Chapman and lets hope she continues to shine a light on the issues as she has done so admirably well for so long.
Free Music Review: An Artist of Beauty, Inspiration and Honesty Hit: 5 StarsWith "Where You Live," Tracy Chapman continues to build on an important body of work. Her most consistent virtue (one among many!) is the choice she obviously made from day one, to use her wonderful writing and performing skills as tools to strip away the veneer of our daily comforts, and talk to us honestly about who we are, and where we are going. For many Americans, listening to the songs in this moving release will be like looking into a mirror, and for the rest of us, I hope they serve as an alarm of sorts, and an indelible reminder that this is where we all live. On several of these songs, Tracy's voice reminds me of the late great Nina Simone. Given the substance of their respective bodies of work, I believe both of them would be very comfortable with this comparison. This is a great record!
Free Music Review: 3000 Miles and America Hit: 5 StarsWOW! I have been a BIG Chapman fan since 1988! I have all of her CDs. I took this one for a spin and instantly fell in-love with "3,000 Miles" and "America"!
"3,000 Miles" start low and simple and ends with a crescendo that keeps you tapping your foot and humming the tune, LONG after you stop playing the CD.
"America" - Just perfect and Tracy Chapman at her best.
A must buy for any Tracy Chapman fan and recommend buy for those that enjoy great lyrics and a soulful voice.
Well done, Tracy!
