Tramaine, Tramaine, Tramaine. Baby, you blew us away with this one!
The emcee opens up by introducing Tramaine as the greatest female gospel singer ever. While I don't agree with that, Tramaine is probably one of the best and most effective singers of spiritual music that I've heard. Her voice is really incredible on this LIVE recording, and it is nothing but a blessing from The Creator that she has not lost anything over the years, and has actually gained some strengths! It's nearly impossible to think this woman is closer to 60 than 50 with this kind of range and stamina. Whew.
One thing is usually consistent about Tramaine's releases. She doesn't release a set very often, compared to many other recording artists. But when she does ... watch out. You can expect quality material from beginning to end, and this set does not disappoint. Nor is it overproduced, which unfortunately seems to be this decade's bad trend for live gospel recordings. Rather, this is one of the most balanced and NATURAL-sounding spiritual sets I've heard in a few years. Kurt Carr did an outstanding job handling this project, and you can tell it was done with love and respect for God and Tramaine's gift.
Favorites? Yeah right, lol. Try picking out a needle in a haystack. But I will say this. Tramaine handles both the slow and turbocharged numbers with equal aplomb, striking that fine line between deliberation and spontaneity. That only comes with experience.
Praise God for Tramaine's ministry, better than ever after all these years. Support it. This is included in that handful of gospel albums that, after listening to it, would make you question how anyone could possibly doubt there's a God who actively cares about us after THEY listened to it.
