Free Music Notes for Double ExposureFree Music Review: Two great tastes that go great together Hit: 4 StarsBeing that the Champs and Trans Am are two of the very few currently existing bands that I actually like and support, of course I was all over this record like a bum on a bologna sandwich.
Overall, it isn't quite as good either of the band's best work. But it IS great nevertheless. The Champs seem to dominate. It sounds like the Champs cooked most of the entrees, then Trans Am added their 11 secret herbs & spices. As is to be expected, tongue is WAY in cheek. My favorite track is Then Comes Saturday Night, which would make Foghat and Boston proud.
For a chuckle, look at the back cover of this CD, then go look at the back cover of Black Flag's My War album.
Free Music Review: Can't Wait for the Sequel... Hit: 5 StarsFor anyone who enjoys the music of Trans Am or the ... Champs this is an essential buy. I would say the result of these two bands getting together leans a little more towards the Trans Am scheme of things (very little metal). The only complaint I have of this record is that it is way too short. The music is incredible, And the highlight is definitely the two tracks, "First Comes Sunday Morning" and "Then Comes Saturday Night". I have a feeling these two songs will make it on to a lot of mix tapes over the winter. An unbelievable achievement in collaboration.
Free Music Review: The Champs win in the first round Hit: 4 StarsSo, this "collaboration" is actually the result of the Champs sending five songs over to Trans Am for improvement and overdubs. I was picturing the Trans Champs in one studio writing songs. Basically, this sounds a lot like the Champs. Two songs have vocals, one is an acoustic number, one is obviously the Champs mainly, and one is mainly Trans Am.
