If your familar with the Christmas music of Trans-Siberian Orchestra at all, you can bet anything they produce is going to be worth the price. That is the reason I snatched up their latest Christmas music CD. A lot more low key and mellow. It's a nice change if you just want to hear some mellow Christmas music for piano. Although TSO did not record this cd, the group who did played TSO's songs beautifully - at first I thought TSO had done it using only the piano. Faithful to their compositions. My 12 year old son is on book 3 of the Suzuki piano method, and loves TSO. This recording of only the piano parts is very instructive for him.Free Music Review: Good idea, bad result.

Translating TSO music into strictly piano would bring a new and interesting element to TSO. Unfortunatly the artist or artists who produced this CD used little imagination in composing their tribute. It sounds like an electronic keyboard was used for most of the recordings rather than a baby grand or upright piano. Using multiple musicians on several different pianos would have made this a remarkable CD. Instead it seems this was a quickly produced piece more to draw on the popularity of TSO music rather than be a respecfull tribute to it.
