Free Music Notes for Christmas Eve and Other StoriesFree Music Review: Just Amazing Hit: 5 Stars
Well all I can say is that this is the best Xmas album I ever heard. The music is increidble and the story is stunning, they have classic songs and also some original songs, and all of them are great. I would like to give all of you a very little summary of this album. In the first two pages lies the story, you should read it first to understand better the whole album. After you read the first two pages, you can play the music and read carefully every lyric, and the reason of this is that every song in this album is a part of the story. In the booklet you can read a bit of the history before each song, so you understand better the lyrycs or the rithm of that song, and also you can feel better the feeling of the season ;)But you shoul keep tis on mind before buy it, and REMEMBER that: This album is from a band called Trans Siberian Orchestra wich is a side project of a Power Metal Band called Savatage so if you like power metal it's sure you love this piece of art BUT if you don't like power metal maybe you won't like this album 'cause they put their unique style in the whole album. Of course you don't need to be a metallian to hear this album, my mother like it and she is 52 years old. So my final quote is: If you like power metal BUY IT, else Try Amazon's music sampler to hear song samples from this album.
Free Music Review: Make Every Holiday Season Even More Special Hit: 5 Stars
Trans-Siberian Orchestra has created a Christmas album that has already reached prominence and has been a Christmas classic for a several years now. This is simply a must own. The storyline and flow of the album is seamless. The music is brillant. It is really a combination of original songs and classic Christmas songs with a modern alteration. It consists of a variety of male and femal vocalists and the songs range from the very gentle to just pure rock. The compositions are more than drums and guitar. There is an accompanying orchestra in some songs, fantastic keyboard playing and a variety of other musical instruments that make up an intricate and majestic piece of work. The guitar work is amazing and often times by iteself incredibly moving especially in the low-key acoustic songs. The story itself is heartwarming, ethereal and energetic, and although it is a Christmas story, its message is that we should try to perpetuate kindness throughout the rest of the year as well.
Musically it is an eclectic album that perhaps some may not enjoy if just pure classic christmas songs are your preference. For those who are willing to accept a modern touch on a classic theme then you will not be disappointed. In fact this will become a Christmas standard for you as it is for me.
Free Music Review: A Christmas album with year-round appeal Hit: 5 Stars
Well, usually around December sometime this album and its worthy successor become my two favorites to listen to - not to say you won't find me listening to it throughout the rest of the year, either. The album's 17 tracks, every single one of them excellent, are divided nearly equally between instrumental and non-instrumental tracks. The songs tell the story of an angel's quest and a runaway returned home for the holidays in an implied rock opera style. In doing so, Paul O'Neill and company are able to somehow capture the magic and spirit of the season with incredible accuracy. The style of the music varies greatly, from light to heavy and everything in between. Here you'll find piano / vocal driven Broadway moments, string filled symphonic moments, solo-guitar laden heavy metal moments, not to mention the tasteful inclusion of a children's choir and a song each to touch on folk and blues. Many of the album's melodies are borrowed from Christmas favorites, meaning plenty of the tunes will be very familiar to even the first time listener, and the original material on the album is just as spectacular as the reworkings of the classics. With at least six different lead singers, the album is both a musical and vocal treat. A definite essential.
Free Music Review: An orchestra with hard edged guitars? Yes and then some! Hit: 5 Stars
Trans-Siberian Orchestra is different from the word go. For starters, look at their name: Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Trans-Siberian brings to mind some sort of traditional music that would be popular in the country of Siberia. Orchestra brings to mind many people wearing tuxedos and playing slow and relaxing music with no vocals. Do either of these apply to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Not even close!
What we have instead is an amazing ensemble of an orchestra but one that I would call a hard rock orchestra. Before I scare off anyone that doesn't like hard rock, stick around, it's not hard rock. This album in the rock world is what's known as a 'concept' album. In the liner notes there is an amazing story that almost brought my wife to tears and the music goes with that story. The music is upbeat and yet somehow traditional even though it's very different. There is nothing even remotely close to being boring about any track on this album. A personal favorite is track #8 - it's impossible to listen to this track and stay still. The ultimate compliment I can give to how great Trans-Siberian Orchestra is is the fact that after listening to this album we went out and bought all of their other albums without knowing anything about them!
Free Music Review: TSO Sets New Standards For Holiday Music Hit: 5 Stars
It's amazing that I've had this cd for four years yet have never written a review before now, but this (as well as the other TSO Christmas cd "The Christmas Attic" seem to just get better with each listen. I have played this cd for so many people and almost always they love, love it. The only negatives I ever hear is that it's either too heavy or they aren't traditional enough. These are to me strong points because anyone can sing a song that has been recorded by so many artists that all the new cd's seem to contain the same selections. TSO has some traditional stuff on it, mostly instrumental (which is very nice), but they have crafted stories that really get to the heart of what the holiday is all about. Songs like "Promises To Keep", "Old City Bar", and "Prince Of Peace" are so filled with emotion and meaning, and make you you really feel good. On the other side, some really fun music is there as well like "Star To Follow", and "Mad Russian's Christmas". I won't mention every track because they are all great! This cd has no fillers, it's all quality from beginning to end. Thank you TSO for giving us a truly memorable experience.
