Free Music Notes for Christmas Eve and Other StoriesFree Music Review: Best of their Christmas Albums! Hit: 5 Stars
I originally bought this just for the Christmas Eve/Sarajevo piece, but I fell in love with the rest of it as well. The music varies from quiet guitar pieces to stuff that would belong in the wildest rock concert. This is no ordinary Christmas CD, that's for sure! One of the neatest things about it is that the music tells the story of an angel sent on a mission, looking for something that best represents all the good people do one another for Christmas. The listener travels with the angel and listens in as he does on the lives of various characters until at last he comes across a father's prayer for a daughter that had run away from home. He follows the prayer to where the daughter is, and in helping her return home, finds what he is looking for and returns to heaven. I have also listened to "The Christmas Attic", and that album is also nice, but the music just isn't as catchy as "Christmas Eve and Other Stories".
Free Music Review: Among all the stars, an Angel appeared! Hit: 5 Stars
The classic of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This album is a wonderful mix of christmas favourites and newly made tracks, kicked up a notch. This is what theatrical orchestral rock *is*!The album starts with an Angel sent down from God to bring back all the good his children have done since the birth of jesus. The angel visits many places and we are given many stories. He visits Sarajevo, during the war. He hears the bombs and sees the fighting, but he can still hear people singing the joy of the christmas season. My favourite is the story of the little homelessgirl who ran away from home a long time ago. She is destitute and has nothing. She visits a bar and a bartender. And the bartender is moved by this child, he calls a cab, and emptys out the register drawer and sends the child to her home where she is greeted by her loving family. It just brings tears to your eyes. It is everyone duty to own this christmas classic.
Free Music Review: Brilliant! Hit: 5 Stars
Magnificent is just one of the words I can think of to describe TSO music! They are taking Christmas music and putting a new, much-needed twist on it. "This Christmas Day" is one of my favorites and poses the question "Should we be charitable all year or only during the Christmas season?" It really makes you think. I'm pretty excited about the upcoming special on Fox Family Channel! I made a note to record it. I first heard of TSO about 3 years ago when I saw a picture ad for "Christmas Eve and Other Stories". I was so taken with the beauty of the album artwork, so I ran to the nearest record store hoping beyond hope that I could find it! I did and I was more than impressed with what I heard. The music and lyrics are both beautiful and thought provoking. I am recommending both cd's to friends and family all over and I am looking forward to the new release this holiday.
Free Music Review: The Spirit of Christmas Renewed! Hit: 5 Stars
I really thought that Mannheim Steamroller was fantastic, until I heard TransSiberian Orchestra. A great deal of the music played around the holiday season that I had attributed to MS was actually TSO! I bought all the MS CD's, but could not find the music that prompted me to make the purchase (how embarrassing!). Now with two holiday CD's, and a new Rock Opera ("Beethoven's Last Night") they cannot be beat! They are even better if you can get a chance to see them; they break into to touring groups, East and West. You never know who might make a guest appearance. After years of grieving, it took the power of Rock and Orchestra to return my enthusiasm for the holidays. Paul O'Neill, Chris Caffrey, Mark Wood (check out his website for innovative new musical instruments!), thank you, bless you - you gave me something that cannot touched or held, but is as real and true as friendship, love and memories.
Free Music Review: And I can't even stand Christmas Music... Hit: 5 Stars
Every year a little before or after thanksgiving, the local radio stations begin to play crappy, depressing Christmas music that doesn't end until Christmas by which time its drummed so far into your brain you wanna scream. I avoid it at all costs except for when I occasionally find this instrumental rock version of Carol of the Bells. I enjoy this peice so much I wait each year to hear it on the radio, but somehow never caught who does it. Well this year is the end of all that, because upon my discovery of the Trans Siberian Orchestra in a local cd store, I listened to a few samples. Lo and behold, on this very album you can find my saught after song titled Christmas Eve?sarajeo 12/24!!!! I have owned it for a little over a month now and play it constantly because its such a good cd. If you hate depressing monotone washed out christmas music, buy this cd and get a breath of fresh air!
