The Christmas stories and music of Transiberian Orchestra remind us of what the season truly means. When I got to the point where I didn't want to bother with all the trappings and was feeling so disillusioned with the commercialism, even of the Christian churches themselves, that was shrouding the heart of the season, I turned on these CDs and they captured anew the true message of the season: Hope, brotherhood, love of all humankind, and the innocence and trusting of childhood that remains in us all. This is the message that our saviour brought and Transiberian brings alive. Our Christ was meek but bold, gentle yet powerful, and this music captures it all from its tender bells and crystal voices to its wild, electric guitar riffs. My husband and I are huge fans of TSO. We go to their concert every year here in Atlanta. When you're in a concert setting, sometimes you can't quite hear all the words. (Granted: all the lighting and fireworks and snow are a little distracting! LOL!) However, when you listen to the CD, and can hear the words, the songs are even more powerful.
Our favorite singer is Tommy who does "The Ornament". He's been the singer on our tour every year except for this one and I am always moved by him.
TSO has resurfaced in the past few years as "the" group to listen to. (I remember when - for Christmas - it was Mannheim Steamroller.) Whether in person at a concert or in the privacy of your car or home, the music is always good.

I've been listening to these guys since the first disc came out. ALL of the cd's are so good, I'll even bring them out in the summer once in a while. I'll admit it, I'm a fan, lol. BUT, if you've heard them before, you MUST see them live. NOTHING you've ever seen is like TSO live. No sloppy, messed up playing. Everyone is in Tuxedo's, the orchestra is culled from local talent. You'll see everthing from old-school rockers in the ripped jeans and sleeveless T-shirts to folks in tuxedo's and ballgowns. You'll see 3 yo kids and people in wheelchairs and walkers. They truly transcend age. You WON'T be disappointed. I'm 42 years old, and to say that a concert is FANTASTIC and worth the money, is really saying something.Free Music Review: The new spirit of Christmas

A truly awesome remodeling of standard Christmas fare, so unlike the tired pap peddled each year by the entire music industry. These three performances can actually get you through the Christmas season without wearing out their welcome. Composed of old standards, medleys of music we all know, and new compositions, all played on modern rock instruments, this seasonal offering builds upon the best of what the season should bring, but rocks. It will absolutely make you want to attend the live performance when it tours to your area; do it and bring friends with you.
The DVD is a stunning compilation from the three CD story lines and is as visually moving as the CDs are to your ears.

I love the holiday season but I am tired of the same old takes on Christmas music classics and the fact there is so little new original and fresh music to enjoy. I bought this package for myself a couple of years ago. The energy these CDs bring to holiday music is unmatched. If you love rock and roll as I do even still in my mid 50s, you will enjoy this boxed set. The DVD is fantastic and I have watched it with my grandkids for two Christmas' before breaking down and buying the set for their parents. All ages will enjoy this music, yes it can be loud, so go ahead crank up the speakers and play these CDs loud. What a fresh take on Christmas to be had with this set.
